We satisfied our colored visitor on

"I fotch in some 'baeca to-day, an* I
promised Ebenezah dat> my olds'
chile—promised dat boy I'd prescribe
for a paper. He kin read, he kin, an
he's aller.i pesterin' the ooman and me
for books and papers. I s'pose we
orter curidge de chile's dhpencity.
How d'ye sell yo' papers
"Three dollars a y» ar.'
"All de same price r'
"Yea '
"Let me observe one ef you please.'
We handed him a paper and he un
folded it, up side down, canning it
critically on both aides.
"Loeks like dar'a a sight o' letterin'
in dat. I don't got any apectaclea dis
mornin' and I can't pretactly tell if it's
de—de 'Merican language.'
We assured him that it was.
"In Democratic or Republican
branch, sah»'
"Democratic.'
"Dat's do kine ob a book Kbene/ah
gradjurated in. and 1 s'pose dis paper ,
'ud suit him. Three dollars a year,

month ?'
"About 25 cents.'
