The Pott of yesterday morning com mented ably on the result of the eiea tioo in Seattle, King County and Wash ington Territory. We reproduce ia full iti remarks: Postmaster Tibbetts was not only mad* General Tibbetts at the recent election, but Squire Tibbetts M well. To command the militia of Washington Territory snd be Chief Magistrate of Sqoak Valley is honor enough for almost My man. The 'rote of last Tuesday proves that Washington Territory does not con demn its faithful Delegate for making a patriotic, anti-rebel speech en the floor of Congress and in the facs of tho Southern BrigAdiers. The purchate of a light summer snit doesn't disqualify s men for re-election to Congress in this Territory, doee it'( Some persons thought it did, but they sTidcntly ware mistaken. How now about that fifteen-dollar suit of clothe*? THE HOME VICTORY. The greatest victory of the recent po litical campaign was that won right hers in the city of Seattle Tbe moat extraordinary aaaaulti were here made, while hare, alao, waa resistance tbe nnat difficult. A feeling of indifference existed generally among Republicans in the earlier days of the atrnggle. To overoome this feeling required hard work, which waJ delegated to bands both able and willing. Circumstances were propitious. The defense was be gun in earneitand was conducted with all the courage and tact possible. Happily tbe enemy wore exceedingly vulnerable, and in their assaults ex posed themselves to severe injury. Every advantageous circumstance waa availed of, and, when tbe last gr«at fight waa foaght, the victory waa complete, and the enemy l*ca«no ours. With a strong Republican in the field, hsroaftor, the Democrat must bo either very bravo or a fool who will accept a nomination iu opposition. It is regarded throughout tbe country as aottled that Rutherford B. Hayes will be suoccded in the Presidency by Jainea A. Garfield. TELEGRAPHIC. »*i LP#rrsiT vn m urstxraunu. WARUIiIUTOS TKKRITORT. Tbia, with the 15,000 in Kings auil 40,000 in Queens, Richmond and Suffolk, makes his majority CO,OOO in tbe lower counties against a majority in the same region in 1876 of 72,994. In 1876 Tilden's majority in tbe State wa* 33,000 Allowing tbfc Republican claims aa to New York-City, it will be still necessary for them to gain 21,000 yotes in order to carry tho State. The Republicans have gained heavily in Erie and ReDssflaer, but loet heavily in Albany and the agricultural counties.
