; COTTON ADVANCES j IN ACTIVE MARKET t, XI Tricos Fall Back Slightly Near 5 Close lrnder Professional Trofit Taking. f ( # ___? I J In the most active market of many . weeks cotton futures pi ices advanced * yesterday 35 to 43 points from Thurs * day's close under local and outside buy ? ? ing, which uncovered several stop loss ' orders late In the te?jion. The activity and the strength, to a large extent, were in sympathy with t'n-j security market's * action, much Wall Street buying being J traced to the doings o" stocks. L-jcal , feeling was affected bullishly from the / outset by wet weather in the cotton r belt during the Kaster holidays, more f optimistic cotton goods reports and con * ' tinued hoavy exports. , Realizing pressure was w'ell absorbed * at all time.-, but enough profit taking t . from professionals developed near the * final Kong to cause the market to slip J off slightly from its high. Final bids , were only a little under t'he top, how * ever, or INS to 34 points better than they were on Thursday. Much local support _ was traced to advices from the South predicting general rains through the ' t cotton belt, followed by a severe cold ,? snap, which would be a big drawback to the crop's progress. Official fore casts called for showers over most of ! the South to-day. At one time or another there seemed ,? to be a little new buying by the public. J . evidently aroused by'recent bullish dis ?' cussions. The local market for spot cotton was 41 firm, HO points net higher at ix.o.j cents ft pound for middling. I'he New Orleans market was 25 points net higher at 16.75 cents. Its bales were 2,187 bales. . ? Range of prices: Prev. . Open. High. Low, Close. Close. ?
