FUR SALE PRICES CUT OR UNCHANGED Xarge Lot of Wolf, Selling Up 10 Tor Cent., Only Excep tion of First Day. With one exception, prices at the opening of the New York Auction Com pany'H fur sale In Masonic Hall yester day morning showed reductions or un changed pricea compared with last fall's auction prices of furs. A large selec tion of wolf advance of 10 per cent, in price. Attendance at the opening at 10 o'clock was light, but when rausk >Hts and wolves were offered at the be ginning of the aftrnoon session the number of fur buyet-s on hand was estimated to run close to 800. Hesi tancy accompanied the opening bidding, but at the close offerings drew active competition. A small lot of white fox was the first offering to go under the auc tioneer's hammer. The collection con sisted of 740 skins, generally of good quality. Dealers bought most of the lot, tho best prloe paid being $50, which] was below the open market. Little In terest in the next offerings of blue and red fox was taken. The former col lection consisted of 323 skins, most of which were bought back on account The red fox offering likewise brought forth little bidding, tho highest price jiaid being $20. A small assortment of Australian fox, consisting of 6,682 skins, was disposed of to dealers at less than | their market value. With tho opening of bids for a varied Hsaortment of 21,732 wolf skins In the afternoon session the day's real compe tition began. It was evident frrm the outset that buyers had been waiting for that lot and bidding from the beglnnlns v. as active. The highest price pa'd was $18 and the lowest 50 cents. Southern muBkrat, tho next offering on the list, was disposed of quickly at prices aver aging close to market value. The as sortment consisted of 565,000 skins and tho highest price paid for any lndl- j vidual lot was 80 centa. Only a few numbers of black muskrate were offer jd nt the close. Bidding was active lr. that division and prices averaged above jnarket values but below those prevail ing at the last auction ?ale. Manu facturers were anxious to obtain those skins for next fall's sport coat p:oduc tion. The day's eession closed at lor 7814. Trial of corporations and Individuals Indicted by the Government In connec tion with operations of the alleged "ce ment combine" continued yesterday In the United States District Court, with the reading into the record of various parts of the minutes of meetings of the Cement Manufacturers' Protective Asso ciation and the recalling to the stand of ?William M. Kinney, secretary and (general manager of that organization. He testified tho reporting system by j which the association was Informed of I shipments, cement production and stock on hand was dropped in January, when the United States Supreme Court de cided against another trade association, the hardwood manufacturers. Mr. Kinney further testified as to dates on which defendants now on trial Joined the national association. Other reports of the association were read into the record after an objeotion by Col. Henry L. Stlmson for the defendants was overruled by Judge John C. Knox, who stated the report was admissible only against the corporate defendant* and those Individuals who had aided in drafting It. The report covered a codo which provided a standard practice for virtually all of the relations between cement manufacturers and firms wn whom they did business. Mr. Kinrn stated durint: the afternoon session i : the main activities of the cement ;vs- - elation had consisted of educating t ?< public in the uses of cement, such n* roads, silos, drainage systems and other use* and for this purpose maintained laboratories in Chicago.
