All Sorts of Weather, 'IM10 Virginia set sail from Sandy Hook again at daylight Sunday morn? ing, but soon after passing the Hook the yacht was becalmed and sho drifted around all day Sunday and Sunday night. Monday tho wind froahenoil somo and the Virginia started down Mio coast, but that night sho ran Into a scvore thunder squall, which the yacht rode bravely. Tuesday morning tho wind died down again and. fearing a storm, Captain Drown put his yacht into Beach Haven, whero tho party spent tho afternoon. At Bench Haven Messrs. Robert A, Davis, William M. Parker and W. O. Heath left the party and came to this city by rail. Nearly Went Over. Favored by fair winds tho Vlrglula set sail from Heard Haven early Wednesday morning and arrived olf Delaware Breakwater that night. During the trip to the Breakwater a sudden squall struck the boat almost capsizing it. .Most of Hie "lubbers" were below deck at tho tlmo and when tho Virginia rcoled to one side they all rushed on deck, think? ing that the vessel was going down. The staunch' craft soon righted her? self, however, and proceeded on her voyage. Wednesday night the yacht made good time but while off Hog Island early yesterday morning sho ran In? to a heavy fog bank, which caused the mate to lose his bearing. The vessel sailed around In the fog un? til just before noon when Capo Charles light was sighted and she was headed into the capes. Having fair winds again tho Vir? ginia passed in the Capes about noon yesterday, arriving here yesterday af? ternoon. The following were aboard the yacht when she arrived at pier A: ?Meura. W. Mr. C- C Smith, who was also lected with Messrs. Harrison and Sibly, Is out of tho city, but he will take the oath at the next meeting of tho board. The board adopted a resolution off? ered by the rules and regulations committee authorizing a special com? mittee to ascertain tho cost of pur? chasing and installing apparatus for teaching domestic science in tho High scoool during tho session of 190ti-'07. The president appointed Messrs. Phillips, Barrett and Cooper the special committee, and named Superintendent of Schools W. C. Morton an exofllclo member of the committee. Upon the recommendation of tho rules and regulations committee the board elected Miss Alice Coleman, of Slgnplue, Va., a special teacher In music for the session of 1906-'07 and elected the following substitute, teachers: Mrs. A. C. Peachy, Mrs. E. .1, Roberts and Misses Ollvu Mar? lowe, Nellie Foley, Lucy Moss and Nannie Clements. iMnry Harmon was elected teacher for the colored schools and the wlfo of N. B.
