Jones against the' Newport Newa Shlpbulld lug ami Dry Dock Company. The costs lu this case amount to $2,455.54 and will have to he borne by Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones sued to recover damages for alleged encroachment, upon his oyster beds, several hun? dred thousand being involved. Com? missioner In Chancery C. Display of Fireworks Will Attract Many to Buckroe Tonight. Unless rain prevents II Is expected that one of the largest crowds that has visited Buckroe Beach this season will go to the resort tonight to witness the big pyrotechnic display. Arrangements have been made by which the fireworks of the Fourth of July will be duplicated, and the indi? cations are that the crowd will bo even larger than on that occasion. The display will include all the lat est designs and novelties in fireworks ami will be conducted by an expert from New oVrk city. _ "The Bells" was the attraction at the Buckroe Casino last night. The attendance was large for Thursday night. Tonight the play will again be "The Bells." The vaudeville spe? cialties this week are proving a big Hit with the crowds. BACK FROM MOUNTAINS. Chief of Police Reynolds and Sergeant Mitchell Ready For Duty Again. Chief of Police .T. W. Reynolds and Mrs. Reynolds returned home yester dav after spending several weeks with relatives in Albcmarle county. The chief went on duty at once, relieving Sergeant Oray, who has boon acting chief. Ssrgennt T. A. Mitchell, who has been spending several weeks in the mountalnn for his health, also return? ed yesterday. The sergeant has im? proved considerably and is able to go on duty again. "Pikers" vs. Morrison. The Pocahontas "Pikers" will play the Morrison baseball team on the Morrison diamond tomorrow after? noon. Seabrook and Carmlchael will be the battery for the local team.
