According to a very persistent re? port in circulation Inst night, H. P. Barney will likely succeed B. .T. Mog ginson as superintendent, of the New? port News and Old Point Hallway and Electric Company, it is expected that the announcement of Mr. Barney's se? lection will be nindo wltbln a few days. Mr. Bhrhey was for many years tho superintendent of the railway, having been succeeded by Mr. Mcgginsoii. He is regarded as a verv careful street railway man and his appointment would give iron oral satisfaction to his score of friends nnd acquaintances both In Hampton and Newport News. No one in authority would confirm the rejiort of Mr. Barney's selection although the information came from a source that is thought to be very trustworthy. NOT IN PHOEBUS. Johnson, or : Phoebus, yesterday gave out a state? ment In which he declared that Clay I Ivy. the Newport. News attorney, war not held-up nnd robbed In Phoebus, hut. that the alleged hold-up occurred at Gatewopd's corner, which Is at the entrance of the Hampton Normal school. Mr. Johnson said that the hold-up was reported to him by Mr. Ivy, who I old the officer, so Mr. Johnson says, that ho was relloved of his gold watch by two sailors at Gatewood's corner.
