Miss Knapp has spent five years upon the island Charles Hayden, a former student of the university, returned to Boulder last evening after a year's absence. Buchheit of Louisville, accompanied by Mr. Buch neit’s mother and brother, Gus, came | over yesterday to visit Boulder friends, and in company with them spenta very | pleasant day at Boulder Falls, Mrs. | Buchheit recently made a three week's visit to her parents in Nebraska and on | her return was accompanied by Mrs. | Buchheit and son, who are now wisiting | with her in Louisville. Gus Buchheit is |a prominent druggist in Grand Island | and while here visited several druggists of Boulder and made many friends. A large territory has lately been | thrown open to prospectors by Platt and George Rogers. This ground consists | of over two thousand acres located on the Middle and North Boulder creeks, | commencing above the falls. This | ground is traversed by innumerable | veins of gold and silver bearing ores, is | very accessible and the owners are pre pared to give a bond anu lease for claims as appears trom a notice in another part of this paper. This property has been withdrawn from prospecting for the past 25 years, but the owners have lately de cided to open the same by the leasing and bonding system. A number of Boulder people availed themselves of the excursion over the Gulf and South Park lines yesterday to Kenosha summit. The excursion was one of the summer series which the Gulfi road is running so successfully over its scenic branches and which are enjoyed alike by the experienced fourist ‘and the citizens in search of a day’s recreation. As a practical instruction in the beauties } of our state, nothing cquld be more ap propriate and the road is receiving‘ enconiums of praises for thus enabling everyone to view the state at a nominal cost. The excursion yesterday was an exceptionally interesting one and the tourists, representing all Northern Colo rado, were weil pleased with the trip. The run was well conducted, and Travel ing Passenger Agent Shaw, who was in charge of the train saw that everyone was well looked out for. Considerable excitement was created this afternoon by the appearance of J. J. Dubi’s horse, with broken harness and with legs cut and bleeding. It was known that Dubi and Doc. Sherman had started for Jimtown at one o'clock and it was thought that some accident had oc curred, and a rider was immediately des patched toward Jimtown to investigate. A mile or so from town, the rider met Dubi riding in on a freight wagon, and it was learned that no serious harm had come to the occupants of the buggy, It seems that Sherman and Dubi got out to place a fly net on the horse and had partly unharnessed, when the horse be came frightened and soon became un controllable, He dashed away from the 'men, breaking the shafts of the buggy and started for town. On the way, he evidently encountered some barb wire fences as he was terribly cut up about the legs. The men sustained no injuries whatever, Capable woman wants place.
