She expects to spend a few days at Nederland before returning home. The Rev. Mr. Gunn, the rector of St. Peter's church of Denver, has been the guest of the Rev. P. H. Hickman for a couple of days and returned home this afternoon. Harold Garwood, the university boy who recently broke his ankle while ex cavating a%éllar, appeared yesterday on «crutches down town. He intends to re main at home unti! the reopening of school. J. L. Rachofsky and wife and A. Ritt master and daughter returned last night from their trip to Central City and vicin ity. They encountered good weather and a good time during the term of their ab sence from Boulder. Miss Ina Henderson went down to Manitou this morning to spend a couple of weeks. By request of A. L. Bemis and othets. Miss Ella Ragsdale returned this morning to Denver, in company with Mrs. Tourtellot whom she has been visit ing in Boulder for several days. Mrs. Tourtellot goes on to Bar Harbor, Maine to remain for three months and may pro long her visit for a year. . On account of the existence of another Colorado company bearing the same name, the Colorado Western has been changed to the Colorado Northwestern Railway company. The company has secured offices over the First National bank for the general manager, J. T. Blair ot Greensville, Pa. Ed. Gilbert discovered a hobo going through his ice chest in the rear of his house on 12th street last night at about 10:30, and by putting in an unexpected appearance rather disturbed the depre dator. He caught the man and pum m:lled him up considerably before he escaped. Gilbert secured his revolver and started up 12th street in pursuit, clad somewhat briefly with a determined air, and presenting a picturesque but somewhat undignified appearance, How ever, by firing his pistol in the air a couple of times he attiacted the attention of Night Watchman Bass, who promptly jugged his man. The man was arraign e¢d in Justice Borden’s court today on a charge of petit larceny, and was found guilty and sentenced to 20 days in the county jail. He gave his name as Jim ‘McConn. On Tuesday afternoon Ed Everett, a miner at Eldora was injured about his face and head by a premature explosion in the Lady Alice mine. Everett had put in several shots and lit the fuses, but was still tampering with one of them when one of the other shots went off. Although dazed by the shot, he escaped in time to avoid the other shots which followed in quick succession. The ex plosion came squarely in his face, in juring both eyes and nearly tearing off his left ear. The physician states that he may be able to save the sight of the right eye but that the left one is hope less. Everetts is one of the three miners who was in partnership at the time of the explosion at Eldora when Johnsen and Metcalf were so badly injured. At that time it was Everetts who placed the giant powder in the stove and then went out of the cabin. During his absence the powder exploded, seriously wounding the other two. We are in receipt of a program of the exercises at the ordination and installa tion of Conrad Bluhm as a minister and pastor of the First Reformed church of Hoboken, New Jersey, which occurred on Tuesday, july 13. Mr. Bluhm was formerly a student of the university and was acquainted in Boulder. McKinley's Commission. President McKinley will never get authority from the present extra session of congress to appoint a currency com mission. The silver senators will never consent to any tinkering with the cur rency by a goldbug commission.
