The earlier strong- points mean time suffered rrom realizing, so that tho closing was Irregular, but Inactive. Tho speculative activity was conilned to the high-priced industrials and the stocks of small railroad systems up to that time. The manufacturers have conferred with broom-corn brokers and were told that les than 13 per cent of this year's crop vu4 still In the hands of the farmers and that there would he no new crop for eight months. The dealers had previously ad vanced prices 3) per cent to meet the situa tion, and to-day a hard fight was made to make the advance SO cents a dozen. This was deemed too radical, however, nnd the Executive Committee of the association wa empowered to make a further advance ap to the limit of E0 cents a dozen.
