Grand Two-Yonr-Ohl Should Heat His Field Daniels's Horse May Capture First Money in Fifth Event at Carmody Course Gay American Mav Win and Liddon Also Looks Well. AT DCUItn TIUCK. Liddon may be able to come home first In the becond race on the card at Delmar to-day. The youngster seems to have Ills field outrUhscd in thl event. He i in with Passive, from the Hammond stable, and, though the laltcr'-s owner likes lier chances. Llddon should get first money on the strength of Ills good races the last out. Arlcna has started but once and ran a fair sort of race at the Fair Grounds. Ehe wished veil back, but was nervous at the . 5rrier and failed to break as quickly as Cic should. With reasonable Improvement to-day she may be In the money. Gay American T.iU start in the Hughes colors this afternoon and may win the Ions end of the purse In the third race for his new onncr. The gelding did not have the best of luck in his last out. and was shut off a couple of times in a four-horse field. With clear sailing to-day. It ap pears as if he thould beat Tower and Trapsetter. Paul Revere, on public fprm. seems to have the 2-year-olds in the fourth race beaten. But in this race is the joungster, John Randolph, who has been so highly recommended by the rail birds. All ugreo that he has shown remarkable form in his work, and some my that he has out worked older horses of some ability in practice. Rallblrd gossip is lacking In essential facts, however, to such an extent that form ought to count more In this race. Randolph may get t-econd place to Paul Revere on the .strength of their lost races, while Varieties, who has also shown a lik ing for the track In practice gallops, may get third money. Ivisso should sive another purse to the Lenvp account to-day In the fifth. Hroodler mav bo second here, dales looks like a fair sort of bet for third place, although h may not enthuse over the track, par ticularly. It was over this track that he made his first local appearance, by the way. when he was running In the Gorman colors two yean ago. Huceha may put the Klnstein stable In the list of winning owners to-d.iy. She ran an indifferent race in a four-horse field last out. but the slow early jvice hurt her chances somewhat. She was in with others who were faster sprinters at a short distance than herself, and Nath Woodstock managed to last the longer. Hxnpo and Uranium look next best. In the opening race. Keronla may win. She has shown fair form latelv and should be able to beat out Fixer's John and Cres slda. Harnacle would once have looked well here, hut it seems as if he must be passed up to-day. JOCKEV JOHASOX RAR-LY Ilt'KT. AT UXIOX PARIv. This is ladies day at Union Tark, but the card is a very ordinary one. It Is well to omit "the best bet of the day." for Ihere is r.o such bet on the programme. Of the forty-five horses that will start In sir races there Is but cne of chus. and that cne Is Lord llermence. Terhaps IJlv'sh may be included in the- category with Lord Hermcrice. These horses meet In the sixth race. Hcrmence should win. However. Itlulsh ran a good race yester day, but tired after running about seven furlongs. lilulsh will be the contender, and it is not likely that the price on cither will be very attractive. Baroness and Torn Olnty have an outside chance, but It is remote. S.uch as it is. the fourth race .will be the feature. Jim Gore II yesterday ran a good race and rhowed that he was wak ing up. For the last sixteenth, the youngsters ran stride for stride, Prlnces-i Oma hav ing a slight adi-antuge. Jockey Austin was riding rather easily, apparently con tented with his advantage of a head. Twenty yards from the wire, Watson sud denly drew his whip and laced Paul Re vere sharply, the Grant colt, springing; for ward and getting his head in the lead once more. By shaking Princess Orna vigorously, Austin got her neck in front in the last two strides. No better exemplification of the uncertainties of horso racing' could be afforded than this contest, as, had Wat sen delayed drawing his whip for one more stride, the sudden jump on Paul Revere's part would probably- have sent the colt's nose over the line first. Joe Kclley got off well in this event and set a hat pace. Midway between stable and stretch turns, the Baker colt hit the mudholc which has existed sine the track: was opened, and dropped back to the rear, lie finished, rather shaken up. a poor last.
