In a coloring of gold and white, the In terior of the Coliseum will be thrown open to delegates,, distinguished men of the Re publican party-and thousands of guests In the forenoon of Tuesday. June 21. Spacious, handsomely furnished rooms for :the. .National Committee are In readi ness for the session, which will begin on Wednesday.- In the annex of the Coliseum are the offices of the sergeant-at-arms of the convention and his staff and of the members of the Subcommittee on Ar rangements. Saturday night between the hours of It and 12 o'clock a shooting and sulclda without parallel In this county took place here. Two weeks ago there came to this city lilies Blakely and Annie Clifton, who claimed as heir-former home Shawnee town, Gallatin" County.. HL Blakely was employed by the Holly Heading' Company, and the Clifton woman found a position as a servant In the homepf Mm. Stringer. She gave out the' Information that Blake ly recently was released' from the Chester Penitentiary, where he had been serving a fourteen-year sentence for murder com mitted In Illinois, and that' he was gen erally looked upon where they came from, as a dangerous character. She con fessed to being afraid of him. Saturday night Blakely went to the Strincer home and informed Mr. Stringer that he was going to stay all night. Mr. Stringer told nun .he could not do so. but Blakely defied him. Mr: Stringer Informed Night Marshal Williamson of the' situation, and he and Marshal Randall 'went to the Stringer res idence to remove the intruder. -Mm-jimi Williamson knocked on the. door of the room occupied by the twoman, and asked that It be opened, saying that he wanted Blakely to coma out. - ' The answer was a bullet, which struck Williamson in the right breast. Only a flesh wound, was tnade.- Wlth that Williamson called to Randall that he was shot, and Blakely. assuming that he had killed the Marshal and' that he would be captured, proceeeded to shoot the woman three times. The last remaining load In the 2S-caliber revolver he tent through his own brain Death foUowed about six hours later. Williamson came downtown for a phy sician and refused to allow his wounds to be looked altar until the doctor had at tended the wounded woman.- The wom an yet lives, but physicians see no hope for net reecvery. The Clifton woman claims they were en gaged, and that .Blakely wanted her to marry him. but that she was afraid of him. and had put him off from time to time.
