Mrs. Bridget Dunwoodle of No. 13 North Ninth street last nigbt. with a butcher knife, detitd two policemen, who sought to arrest her son. Joseph. She cut tlm coats of Policemen Heller and Shea. The former narrowly escaped serious in jury. For more than an hour tha woman stood on the stairway to her home until a third policeman was summoned. Policeman Heller had a cut four Inches long In the back of his coat and one under his shield almost six Inches' long. The stroke of the knife which made tha cut under the shield was spent on a copy of the Police Manual, which Heller car ried in his pocket. The left sleeve of Patrolman Shea's coat was cut in. a dozen places. His night stick was also hacked. Joseph Dunwoodie. 38 years old. who lives with his mother, jjras reported to the police yesterdiy morning as acting strangely, and all day an effort was made to locate him. Policeman Char lis Murphy was sent to the house, and the three. Shea In the lead, marched to the stairway. Shea used his night stick as a shield, and Mrs. Dunwoodie hacked away at the stick. Shea wa finally overpowered and disarmed. Dunwoodie was then t-en to the City Hospital, where he H held z-r observation. Sergeant St. John with two policemen then returned to the house and arrested Mrs. Dunwoodie. She was sent to tho City Hospital, and is held for observation.
