Tin? second game of liase ball for the ciianipionsdiip of Ne vwla will take place in this city to-day, between tlie Social Club of Virginia City and the Silver Star Club of Carson the latter having won the first game at Virginia on the loth instant. The game will commence at 12 o'clock meridian, on the grounds of the Silver Star Club, in the northeastern suburbs of the city. Seat "ill be prepared on the urounds for spectators, and a can vas "lSxlS (kindly furnished by J. .Mart. l!eese)ill tm stretched in order to protect lady siectaiors from the sun. Officers will also be in attendance, to see that the utmost orderand decorum is observed. The Silver Stars name the following nine for the game: lay, lirst base; lieuel, third base; Kldridge, pitcher; Finney, second base; Sharp, left field; Kurgesser, catcher: Parkin son, center tield; Maniilebaum, short stop; .Swift, right tield, and Mara first substitute. The contest will doubt less be an exciting one. as the Socials must and are dele: mined to) win in order to carry on the contest for the championship, w hi!e the silver Stars are equally determined to put an end to the contest by winning l lie second game. C. C. Carson, of Virgiuia, has been agreed upon as I'mpire. A C'HAXfiK. A private letter re ceived in tiiis city yesterday from Carlin, states that W. 11. Chamberlain, the opuar hotel man of Keno, had just left that place for Sacramento to procure material lor a large hotel which ho is to erect immediately at I'arlin, at a point just east ot the rail road depot, on the south side of the track. It is understood that the rail road company will soon cause Klko to be abandoned as an eating station, making Carlin the breakfast and sup per house on that part of the road, so that passengers may be fed while en gines and engineers are beingchanned, and w hile the trains are being dueled thus saving twenty minims time. The change will be rough on Klko, luit that town has resources which Carlin has not. Hyeiik Sistkus. These talented singers will appear at the Carson Theater this evening. The Knterprise of yesterday, speaking of their concert at l'iiK-rs Opera House on Tuesday evening, says they gave universal sat isfaction to a crowded hou-e. and that their singing is as charming as their demeanor is tnodet and becoming." T!.w...l..l,.-d,oil ...t'r.r...! I .o ri f .fos.-ltll I .Mokes I.e Count, is also spoken of m! I lie highest terms. 'As the concert this exening will not only lie some thing novel but a rare treat, ami as scats can be recei ved without extra charge, it will be well for the lovers ot music to secure ite-siranie seals ai jm early hour to-day. I.MdAN Powwow. A large delega tion of the Piute tribe of Indians, vis ited Carson yesterday, and held a pow wow w ith their brelhenof the Washoe tribe. The two tribes together present tiite a contract the l'iutes being all well dressed, and wearing; stove pipe hats with long feathers on them, and presenting a real warrior hxik, while the YVashoos are more more "careless" about their dress. We saw thirty or forty Piutes about the St. Charles kitchen, looking no doubt after "cha inuck." The I'jkk. The fire on the moun tain was still burning yesterday, or rather the smouldering ruins of the burnt district were still sending up a large column of smoke. We learn at the railroad office that a few cords of wood were destroyed, but the tire was confined chiefly to the brush and debris of a district front which the wood had long since been cut and hauled away. The damage doue was trifling. Retirsed. E. A. Moody, recent Principal of the public school in this city, returned yesterday from a tour among the lakes and forests of the Sierra, looking as hard' as a pine knot with the exception of the nose, which peels like an onion. Sellino Oct. Xow is the time to buy your Furniture and Budding. C. II. Maish, opposite Wells. Fargo A Co's, is selling ott his entire stock of Furniture and Bedding at cost prices, to close out business. Go and free for yourselves. Convalescent. S. T. Swift, Sheriff of Ortnsby county, who had been con lined to his bed tor some time with inflammation of the liver, was again upon the street yesterday. Personal. Adolph Sutro, the in domitable tnnnel man, was in this "ity yesterday, looking as healthy, jhopeful and determined as ever. At Cornelian Hot Springs. Two young men of this city, a few evenings since, wishing to avoid unnecessary expense for a nec essary evil, took advantage ot the darkness and the credulity of another party to pass a two-bit pcice for a 10 piece thereby gaining for themselves tin certain quarters) the sobriquet of "Two Bits." Counting. The State Board of Ex aminers (Attorney General Buckner and Secretary Minor Governor Brad ley being absent) was yesterday en gaged in counting the money in the state Treasury. The condition of that institution will be made public by the certificate of the Board in a few days. Traveling in Style. It is related of a young man, not unknown to fame in these parts, that he recently appro priated a Chinaman's jasack, "made up a load," and walked up to Lake liiyler tor recuperative purposes, ut course, we don't pretend to vouch for the truth of the story.
