This morn ing I came to the west end oi the street car line to come up town. I found a neighbor who had been waiting thirty five minutes for a car; I assisted him and together we waited twenty-three minutes .note so my neighbor had a eeance oi fifty-eight minutes. Shannon Birdsall, night clerk of the CoDeland hotel, was shot by Bell Eoy Stewart at 4 o'clock this afternoon. The bullet seems to have gone through Birdsall's body. It is not known whether the wound i? fatal. Birdsall is a son of the ex-postmaster of Emporia. The bell boy is aged 15. Ttity quarreltd over hotel work. He Libelled the Mayor. Minneapolis, Minn.. May 21. Judge Russell today sentenced Alderman Robins to pay a fine of $100 or in default to spend ninety days in jail for the publication of his letter criminally libelling Mayor Estes.
