3 ABOUT BITTER MILK. fg Usually CtnHd by Ill-Health and Poor Condition of tbA Blood. Several readers have written com plaining that the milk of their cows is bitter after standing a few hours or a single day and that the leed used is of the best, clean and wholesome. Some of the cows have been in but a few months others will be fresh within three months. Cows that have been in but a few months, are properly fed, have pure water, free access to all the salt they wish and give milk that is bitter with out being tainted by contact with out side surroundings, may be in ill-health which affects the condition of the blood. The best remedy for . this trouble if produced by the blood beingout of con dition is to give a pound of sulphate of soda (glauber salts) or of sulphate of magnesia (epsom salts), dissolved in warm water, by means of a common drenching horn or long-necked bottle; and after this has operated, a daily dose of one ounce of hyposulphite of soda may be given with good results, for "two weeks. This latter is readily taken, by most cows, when powdered and sprinkled over a mess of scalded bran or in other feed. Western EuraL . -j-.-; Rash PromUe. A story is told of a London magistrate who had a London lady up before him ths day after Christmas whom the po liceman said he had found helplessly tipsy. He told her he would let her go, considering the festive season, if she would promise never to enter a public house again. "But, your honor," said the lady, "I was not drunk; I was drugged." "Well," said the magistrate, who saw that she was fencing, "I'll let you go if you will promise never to enter a drug store agaic." To save the fine she promised and departed. All her soda water is gone. Eye Changes Position. It is not generally known that the young fiat fish have an eye on each side of the body, "and that it is only in the adult stage that the eyes are both on one side. There has been much dis cussion among scientific men as to the .mode in which the change takes place, irofc. in the flounder. the eye has been observed to travel over the 1 idge of the head, while in some other fish it passes directly through the soft tissue of the young fish to the other side. w a i i' u LOCAL KCZASE am ih .'he Tcuittf mid anil i sudden cmuanc changes.
