Apache Dies From Injuries Inflicted
by Two Other Indians.
On Sunday aftorncan about 4 o'clock

Whiteman's wife, who lives southeast
cf town., had some "tiswin," an intoxi
cating drink made by the Indians, at
at her homo, and discovers! that s-.n.'e
one was stealing it. Her huFbnnd sus
pected two Indians, and started cut to
hunt thr-m. Il's wife was at her sis
ter's tent, whose husband hrr.Is Boats,
when her husband came in thre with
his head badly pounded up. and said
Joe Belraan and Tnnasoze. two Indians,
had beaten him with stones, and h"
tiled about 4 o'clock Monday mornintr.
Word was sent to the officers, who sent
out and brought the body in. and Jus
tice RawlinRS. rutin as coroner, sum
moned a Jury, who after Investigating
the c?e brought in a verdict chanrlnB
the Indians with the crime. An au
topsy was made by Dr. Collins, who
found the skull fractured by some blunr
instrument, to an extent sufficient to
cause dr-ath. The Indian was known
as San' Carlos B 33. ,He was burled
Monday by the County. Sheriff Thomp
son telegraphed to San Carlos about
he matter, and the Indians were found
and placed In the jail there, and will be
brought here for preliminary hearing.

They went to a lodging house in the
lower part of town and when they
were next ss.-n they were wearing fe
male clothing and looked much better.
One of tne girls Ls about 20 years old
and the other Is perhaps four or tlv
years older. They have carried them
selves with circumspection since they
came to town, so that the police have
had no excuse for trying to inquire
!mn their earlier history.
When they were put off the Santa Fe j
train in the course of their first at
tempt to come here the trainmen said
that In all their experience with tramps

a better command of objectionable i
language.
