I bought a bottle of it from A. E. Steere of Oood win. S. r., and whn I got home with it the poor brUy could hardly breathe. I gave the nvdifine as directed every ten minutes until he 'threw up" and then I thought sure he was going to choke to dat"t. We had to pull the phlegm out of his mouth in great long strings. FOXESOT, - - Bdltor and Manager Ktu Department. Office: ------ F. T. Pomeroy Oo. BAIN AND SNOW Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Added to the Wealth of Arizona. For the greater part of the time since mid-afternoon yesterday a rain has been falling that Is worth a thousand dollars a minute to this valley. It is the first rain here of any consequence since last summer, and was the one thing most needed at this time to make the 'people of this valley prosperous and happy. With the accompanying heavy snowfall in the mountains, there is now a reasonable assurance of a lib eral water supply for irrigating pur poses for months to come. The water supply is of so much Im portance to this valley that the fear of a drouth has become almost a halluc ination with many people, and the minute water gels a little scarce fears are magnified into evils that are in large part imaginary. While the val ley has been pretty dry frnr a few weeks, this region has not been alone affected. It has been unusually dry for months all over the west and south west. Phoenix has sulTered. but not to the extent the pessimist has Imag ined, and no more than most places. In fact, less than many places equally as dependent upon the water supply for their prosperity. Year in and' year out Arizona can boast of as many, if not more favors from the elements In one way or another, as-any other sec tion. And now that the rain has come there will be great pleasure in watch ing the grass grow. The indications are that the precipi tation Is general all over the territory, in the form of either rain or snow. There were six Inches of snow In Pres cott yesterday morning, and It Is said to have snowed all day. ' From a foot to fifteen inchns was the reported depth lust night, ami the storm was still con tinuing. It was reported also that the snow was two feet deep In Flagstaff. There has undoubtedly been a heavy fall all over the n.ountalns in the north, and presumably it Is raining and snowing in the east and south east. Aside from the agricultural and cat tle interests of the valley, it Is esti mated that a rain of this kind and Just at this time is worth at least $:i00.000 to the sheepmen, whose flocks have been brought to the valley for the win ter. This profit comes through an Im provement of the range, which Insures a successful lambing season, or what might be called a 100 per cent lambing season, as against perhaps a 30 per cent season, which would have been the result without rain. The sheep men will also reap a blg benefit In the i weight and quality of the mutton sold during and at the eitd of a good range j season. Commercial Interests will nat- urally be benefited In proportion to the prosperity enjoyed by agriculturalists i and stockmen. i Another point to be made In this most fitting time for Arizona's self congratulation, is the effect of the rain on the mining interests. The dry weather has not lasted long enough to materially Interfere with mining oper ations, but the rain and snow that have fallen will go far toward providing a water supply In the hills next summer, that without it would have been de serted by the prospector. There are many working mines in Arizona that are not liberally supplied with water, and that in summer time are some times forced to close down. For such, the present precipitation Is a new lease of life, or rather, the guarantee of a more active life. A CURE OF LUMBAGO. W. C. Williamson, of Amherst. Va., says: "For more than a year I suffered from lumbago. I finally tried Cham berlain's Pain Balm and it gave me entire relief, which all other remedies had failed to do." Sold by Elvey & Hulett. I have used this remedy in my family for the past seven years and have never known it to fail." says James Prender gast, merchant, Annato Hay, Jamaica, West India Islands.
