Some opposition has been expressed, thonsh not. very considerable to the voting of bonds for the Toiito road. H was learned yesterday that there i.-s matter a perfect understanding of the matter: that many people are not aware how soon the road would be built after the funds became available and of the saving that would result to the valley by its construction. One gentleman who had opposed the bonis said yesterday that there was no hurry about the building- of it so why vote the bonds. Mr. A. P. Davis replied that there was the greatest hurry if the road were to be built at all. He said that if the bonds were voted the road would be finished within four months; that within three months it would bt passable and that machinery for the work at the dam would be taken over it, and that within a month afterward it would be widened and made in:o an excellent road. He said that from 3'0 to 500 men could be set at work on it and enough men would be at work to finish it as soon as pos sible. H.; st'id that saving to the val ley would begin ai once, if the bonds wt ie voted. ( 'onsuliing Kngineer Savage, speak ing of the opposition to the load said Hurt it' it should prevail to the extent of defeating the bonds it would be a damaging thing for the valley in its re lation with the government. In ask ing for the passage of the bill Mr. KuHkr had understood that the people represented by him were wiling to share the burden with the government. The government had. th?refore, gone forward and had expended a great deal of money. If now the people should refuse to assume their share of the burden. Mr. Savage said that it would become his duty to warn the depart ment to proceed slowly in its future business with tlv? valley and assume jio risks as it hjd been doing through out the negotiations tnus far. On the subject of the road the fol lowing is a letter from Chief Knsrineor Newel! to Mr. Fowler read at the reception : Department of the interior. United States OJeological Survey, Reclama tion Service: Washington, D. C, Dec. IS, Hi03. Jlr. H. A. Fowler. President. Salt Ri er Valley Water Vsers' Association, Dear Sir: In reply to your inquiry regarding the attitude of the Reclama tion Service toward the proposed road from the Salt River Valley to the Salt River dam site, crossing the in tervening mountains. I desire to make the following statement: In the construction of the large storage dam it will be necessary to bring in large quantities of materia", machinery, and supplies, and to have better facilities for transportation of laborers to and from the work. L'nder the present conditions all material and men must go to a point on the South ern Pacific Road in the southeastern part of the territory, transfer to a short independent railroad. 125 miles, to go to the town of Globe and then travel n load of 4) miles or more in length to th ?itr of the dam. From the rauirnstd point at Globe to the darn sit in nearly ax far as from the Salt It 1 rNnMa! in ordet to secure sup P'iM and Ubor at reasonable cost to have quick communication with 'he renter of wlnUation and of business in the Salt Itlv-r Valley, rind avoid the long roundabout railroad route and vagon .transportation. It in almi necessary In transmitting the power from the dam to build an i'-trie transmission line over the mountains in the most direct course io t!w Suit r.lver valley. This transmis sion line Is for the purpose of coiivev- the power generated at the dan the pumping works in the valle.-. AS OLD JkS M D 7 yesterday That blood poison existed among the ancients has been proven beyond question. It has been traced back thousands of years, and is as old as the Pyramids. This blighting curse has been handed down from nation to nation and from individual to individual till it has spread to all parts of the world. Contagious blood poison, as it is called in modern times, begins with a small sore or ulcer through which the virus enters the blood. This is followed bv inflam mation and swelling of the glands of the groins, a red eruption breaks out on the body, sores appear in the mouth and the throat becomes ulcerated, and as the disease takes a deeper hold and the blood becomes more thoroughly infected, the hair and eyebrows drop out, the skin is spotted with coppercol ored splotches, the bones and muscles ache, aud it seems to the victim of this monster scourge there is not a sound spot in the whole body. The horror of this awful disease ' can never be told. The one who con tracts it suffers in body and mind, and if the poison is not eradicated transmits the taint to his children, and Contagious Blood Poison thus becomes responsible for many of the ills of childhood Skin Eruptions, Catarrhal Troubles, Sore Eyes, Scalp Disease, White Swelling, Scrofula and others just as bad. S. S. S. , the great vegetable blood purifier and tonic, has long been recognized as a radical and safe cure for Contagious Blood Poison. It counteracts the deadly virus and cleanses and puri fies the diseased blood, and under its tonic effects the general health im proves and soon all signs of blood poison are gone. The strong mineral remedies. Mercury and Potash, which are so often prescribed for the disease, dry up the sores, kin eruptions and all external signs, but leave the stomach and digestion ruined and the system in such condition that the disease usually returns i:i worse form than ever. S. S. S. is guaranteed a purely vegeta ble remedy. $i ,ooo is offered for proof that it contains a single mineral ingredient. If 3-011 have blcod poison write for our special book, describing the different stages and giving all the symptoms, with directions for treating one's self at home. Our physicians will furnish any information or advice wanted free of charge. THE SWIFT SPECIFIC GO., A TLANTA, GA HAD ALL THE SYMPTOMS. Dear Sirs: Aa a result of a serious blood disorder my blood became poisoned and I suf fered severely with Rheumatism and other symptomn not necessary to men tion. A friend of mine told me that he had been cured of my trouble by S. S., and upon his recommendation I began its use. After ur.ing it for some time my blood was thoroughly cleansed of ail poison and made pure and strong again- I wish also to speak of its tonio prop, erties. While purging my blood of impurities, it built up my tceueral health, improved my appetite, gave me increased strength, and X felt better in every way. I am a groat believer in S. S. S., and with pleasure commend it to all iu need of a blood mtecicice. Years very truly. ROBERT M. ZWEITZIG. 533 Walnut St., Lebanon, Fa. Nothing Succeeds Liko Success. 08.
