ernor Kibbey assumed a new dignity
yesterday immediately on receiving a
telegram from Terre Haute, Ind., an
nouncing the birth of a daughter to
Mr. and Mrs. Sherburne, the latter be

and for a time there were fears that lie!
might not recover. '
SEATTLE BOOMING A letter to j
J. S. Griffin from It. H. Greene, who is i
visiting relatives in Seattle, brings the j
information that Mr. Greene is having ;
a pleasant time and that Seattle is i
growing more rapidly than ever. They
are tearing down buildings that in most
places would be considered valuable
and building larger ones on the same
sites.
CLEANING HOUSE The Larson
Drug company is cleaning house
and refurnishing its pharmacy
at the corner of Washington and
Center streets. Mr. Larson desiring to
re-equip the store with modern show
cases, advertised in The Republican for
the sale of the old cases in the store
and sold at once all of them he could
spare. Then he decided while he was
about it to repaper the room and
give the entire establishment a thor
ough overhauling.
SURPRISE PARTY On Thursday
evening there was a surprise party
given to Miss Josephine Kinney at the
home of her parents on North Fourth
avenue. The evening was spent in
dancing after which refreshments were
served. Those present were: Mr. and
Mrs. McCurry, Misses Helmers, Pettid,
lmundsons and Messers. Dick Od
munson. Louis Johnson, James, Joe
and Hubert Gear, John Green. Murphy,
Dawson, Anthony Donofrio and Jim
Kinney.
DEMOCRATIC CAUCUSES There
were caucuses held in all of the wards
of the city last night by democrats for
the purpose of selecting a ticket to be
voted on at the democratic primaries
to be held this afternoon. No contests
appeared in any of the wards. In the
First ward the following caucus ticket
was named: J. M. Shott. M. J. Pettid,
John I.ambert. Frank Loveitt, Teodoro
Olea, K. K. Hives, W. H. Lount. F. M.
Mognett. W. L. Osborn. L. Killein.

FAIR WEEK The Arizona Territor
ial Fair commissioners are making an
etfort to have fair week, November 12
to IT, a general vacation period all over
the territory. Kverything so far points
to a great fair. The exhibits will be
greater in number and in value than
at the previous fair and the heads of
each department are hard at work ar
ranging details. A great treat is in
store for the lovers of racing. Some of
the fastest horses in the country have
been secured and the races will be ex
ceptionally fast.

considerably more than was expected

today's primary so far as can be
learned, for the only ultimate purpose
of this proceding is to select a candi
date for delegate to congress, and his
identity has been practically decided

ing board and it will differ from most
boards of arbitration in a very ma
terial way. Kach of the belligerents
will be privileged to see as many mem
bers of it as possible and do everything

dice the judgment of the board in his
favor. In today's primary it is not ex
pected there will be more than one
ticket in any voting precinct. An early
I bulletin has been issued by one of the
jdemoeiatic managers in the Osborn
! district. He says the ticket there will
