A HOME RUN IN A HORNET'S
NEST.
A long drive for a home run lilt,
which landed in a hornet's nest, broke
up an excitinj? 10-inninK baseball tic
in Prince's Woods. Roxhorough. The
ball has not yet been recovered and
nearly all of the players had to be
led home.
According to the account the police
got of the affair, the two teams that
were playing were the Lafayettes and
the Roxboroughs. In the tenth in
ning, shortly before dusk, the score
stood 4 to 4, when one of the Rox
borough players landed on the ball
lie was scampering across the home
plate when a shout from the woods
attracted his attention and when the
two nines hurried over they found
their left fielder writhing on the
ground in agony. The ball tossers
attempted to rescue their teammate
and were immediately set upon by
hundreds of angry hornets. Phila

A CHANGE COMING.
In correcting the exercises of her
class n teacher recently observed a
new name inscribed on one of the
papers AVill Evans. She looked
round the class, but could see no
new boy. Not a little puzzled, she
requested Will Evans to stand.
Up jumped Will Jones, and the
teacher got more puzzled still.
"Your name is Jones." said she,
"not Evans!"
Will looked not a little alwshed.
and shifted uneasily from one footj
to the other. .
"Please, ma'am." he said, "it's ow
ing to family trouble. I didn't do it,
please, ma'am."
"Rut." she said, sternly, "I repeat,
your name is Jones."
"Please, ma'am," said the boy. "it's
