At tlic last meeting of the council, the city recorder was directed to re quest that no supplies, connected with the general operating expense of the city, should be furnished except upon order duly signed by the purchasing agent. This method is part of a sys tem of accounting adopted by the city which, if carefully followed, will great ly facilitate the disposition of such claims against the city, and will ob viate the necessity of laying thorn over at the end of the month in order to determine the authority for the pur chase represented.
