When asked yesterday evening for
his impressions of the great Overland
automobile factory at Toledo. Ohio.

zona agency said with modesty becom
ing his station, "I saw so manv won
derful things over there to speak of
them would sound like a list. I am not
an expert observer, nor do I gather im
pressions like a phonograph record.
But I can tell you in a very few min
utes what is TIIK great thing at the
factory. It is system, absolute nil in
cluding system. Why not even time is
wasted there. I tell you now, it may
sound like boasting or as they say it
another way "boosting" but the reason
for the Overland car today is not a
factory, plenty of money and a set of
handsome dashing sales agents, but the
gigantic system evolved by Manager
Bennett, in charge of all Mr. Willy's
affairs."
To break in bere a moment, it is nec
essary to state that Holmes incompany
with his chief, Eugene Brady O'Neill
left over a month ago for the Overland
convention at Toledo. They saw the
salesmen from every country on earth,
convened with them, took the highest
prize for opening new territory and
then vacationed for a time" in the east.
O'Neill is now in Washington complet
ing his outing, and Holmes returned on
the morning train yesterday to take
charge of the business here.
Tied down to some special feature of
Overland factory work, Holmes con
fessed that the drop forcing plant and
the radiator plant had the greatest fas
cination for him while he -was visiting
the place whence come Overlands. Th
dro?) forging department is the best
equipped in any auto factory according
to Holmes, and puts more drop forc
ings into the cars than any other mak
er. Radiators are made at the Over
land radiator branch for thirty-two
different American made cars beside
the home car. Tons upon tons of cop
per are used in making the radiators,
louvers are busy the year round cor
nering the world's supply of copper and
aluminum for the Overland people.
As for the people who make Over
lands and market them. Holmes could
not say enough of praise. "They are
the finest set of men I ever met. It
took Mr. O'Neill and I three days to
meet all these fellows. I'pon our ar
rival in Toledo we received a number
of appointments to meet the makers
and sellers of our cars. It took us three
days to do it. We two from Arizona
were the only ones in the entire crowd
who earned a visit to the big chief, who
is so busy that he never lays eyes on
one of his salesmen. Mr. Bennett sent
out for us. having heard we had made
the record sales for new territory. We
spent two hours with the manager, and
I never passed a more pleasant and
profitable time with anyone. Overland
wi'il build 45.000 cars this coming y ar.
Of this number over 42.0'ti'i are con- j
tracted for at the present time. Three I
hundred or more of that output will
come to Arizona, where we expect a
record year with more sales than ever."

bought through (Jreene and Griffin,
a quarter section twelve miles direct
ly west of the Indian school. It was
the property of Vernon Cook, who is
connected with the firm. Mr. Wolf
at once named his new holdings the
"West End View Dairy and Stock
Farm" which he is going to make
one- of the model ranches of the val
ley. o
The doctor was called in to treat the
spoiled child of the family. The mother
left the room for a moment and re
turned to find both patient and doctor
angry, when she had escorted the phy
sician to the door, she explained to the
boy that the doctor had said that he
had been very rude.
"Oh, mamma," cried the child, pet
tishly, "he's just an old fogy! He got
mad because I put out my tongue with
out being told."
