She'll marry me some day

If I will grieve my friends and leave

If I'll be always pleasant.

Stay as I am at present,
And not get sour and old;
If I will be an angel
And that is easy Gee!

HAYDEN
The Nashville Students Company
of negro entertainers arrived here
on the noon train Wednesday for
what was destined to be a short and
stormy stay. It was their intention
to give a first class entertainment
at the theater in the evening but
l hey were beset by a number of
hardships culminating in the arrest
of the principal members, a few
minutes before the show hour, on
phone request of Sheriff Adams of
Phoenix. On their arrival here they
appeared to be unwelcome guests at
some of the local hostelries and for
a while it appeared that their lunch
eon would be much delayed if not
missed entirely. Later the company
did much advertising around town
boosting for their show but the
whole program was wrecked when
about half of the troupe became the
guests of the Hotel Gila County
about eight o'clock. Sheriff Adams
described the charges against thein
as too serious to permit of any delay
and on that account local officers
decided not to await the conclusion
of their program but took them in
charge immediately. They were re
turned to the capital city for ad
justment of their difficulties Thurs
day. G. J. Jarrell has resigned his posi

A TIMELY REVERSAL
The house of representatives did
p. sensible thing when it reconsidered
its former unwise action and elimin
ated from the Burnett immigration
bill the amendments aimed nominal-
1; at Asiatic immigration but really
at Japanese immigration. For this
timely reversal, no little credit is
due to Representative Mann, of Il
linois, the leader of the republican
minority, who made an eloquent pro
test against a policy that would have
involved us in a serious and dan
gerous controversy with Japan.
