HAYDEN
Hayilen and Winkelman are soon
to have a real live Elks' dance car
ried out in a most thorough manner.
This is the promise of the Antlered
Tribe of the two towns and vicinity.
It is understood that an ample
amusement fund already has been
assured and that the dante will take
place at an early date, probably at
the Hutton Hall in AVinkelman.
Air. and Airs. X. E. Wilcox and
little son, John, have returned after
spending several days in the capital
city. Air. W ilcox went down to look
after the purchase of an auto truck
wheich he proposed to soon add to
the equipment of his transfer busi
ress here.
Work is now being pushed quite
rapidly on the church building and
the work will he hurried to comple
tion. All of the walls, which are of
adobe, are more than half done and
it should not be a great while before
the building is ready for occupancy.
F. AI. Alartin, electrical engineer
for the smelting company, is here
for a few days in connection with
the local plant. This is Air. Alartin's
first visit for some time.
C. A. Burdick, formerly in charge
of the grocery department of the
Hay.len Supply Co., returned to
Hayden Sunday after an absence of
several weeks. C
John Orr, carpenter foreman for
the copper company, who has been
:n San Francisco tor several months,
recuperating after a serious illness,
returned a few days ago and now
f.-els healthier than ever. He gained
about thirty-five pounds while on the
coast.
Airs. Robert Ezell and son returned
Sunday after a visit of several weeks
with relatives in the Salt River val
ley. J. AI. Beattie was over from Ray
Sunday, visiting friends in Hayden.
C. C. Bryant has resigned his po
sition with the R. & (!. V. railroad
at Ray, and will return to his for
mer home in Houston, Texas.
The Ray ball team had intended to
1 lay Winkelman in the latter town
Sunday, but for some reason was un
able to get there, so the smelter nine
recently formed found a chance for
.a little fun in defeating the Winkel
man boys by a score of eight to five.
There was a large gathering of fans
out for the fun, but the game was
not very exciting. The smelter team
took the lead with three runs in th.;
second inning and held it by a wide
margin to the end. The five runs
credited to Winkelman were scored
in the eighth a' d ninth innings.
The comedy hit of the season will
be "pulled off" at the theater on the
evening of .May S, when members of
the Epworth League will present
"Timothy Delano's Courtship." Al
tho' the cast will be of all local tal
ent there are some of the best in
cluded and a full house is assured.
The funds derived from the enter
tainment will be used to swell the
building fund of the Methodist church
now in course of erection and the
deserving cause should be an in
centive for all Haydenites to be on
hand next Friday evening.
der will be held until a satisfactory
contract is entered into by him. if
he fails to enter into such contract,
the check shall become the . proper
ty of the City.
