OF AWARD OF CONTRACT
Pursuant to the provisions of Sec
tion. 8 of the Improvement Act of
1912, notice is hereby given that the
Commission of the City of Phoenix
in open session, on the 12th day of
Sept. 1914, opened, . examined anu
publicly declared all sealed proposals
or bids offered for the following
wc.-k, to -wit:
(1) That the alley in Block Eighty
one of the Original Townsite of
Phoenix, except such portions of said
alley which are or will be occupied
by walks and excepting also such
portion of said alley as will be oc
cupied by cement concrete gutter,
where shown on the plans hereinaf
ter referred to, be graded and paved
with Bitulithic pavement.
(2) That a cement concrete gut
ter be built along the center line of
the alley in Block Eighty-one (81)
of the Original Townsite of Phoe
nix. (3) That a gravel walk four (4)
feet in width be built along the
South side of said alley from the
West line of Third Avenue, West,
approximately One -hundred and ten
(110) feet.
(4) That a concrete gutter be
built across the aforesaid graveled
walk at a point approximately One
hundred and ten (110) feet. West of
the Westerly line of Third Avenue.
(5) All of the above work to be
done in accordance with a certain
set of plans approved and adopted
by the Commission of the City of
rhoenix on the 9th day of July, 1914,
and on file in the ofice of the City
Engineer of aid City in Book Two
(2) of Street' Improvement Plans, on
Page 59, and in further accordance
with specifications. Numbers 19, 20,
and 22, of the City of Phoenix, on
Hie in the office of the City Clerk,
of said City and which plans and
ppecificntions are hereby referred to
for more particular description of
the said work and made a part here-
of.
Section 2. That the said contem
plated work or improvement in the
i. pinion of the Commission is of
more than local or ordinary public
benefit ami paid Commission hereby
makes the costs and expenses of sail'
wcrk or improvement chargeable up
on a district and hereby declares
that the district in said City of Phoe
nix benefitted by said work or im
provement and to be assessed to pay
the costs and expenses thereof is
described as follows:
All of Block Eighty-one (81) of
the O.-iginal Townsite of Phoenix.
The said Commission has determ
ined that serial bonds shall be is
sued to' represent each assessment
of Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars or
more for the costs and expenses of
said work or improvement, said ser
ial bonds to extend over a period
ending nine (9) years from and after
the second day of January next suc
ceeding the date of said bonds, and
to bear interest at the rate of six (6)
per centum per annum, payable
semi-annually. Said bonds to be in
the form and payable in the manner
prescribed in said "Improvement Act
of 1912", and thereafter to-wit: On
the 12th day of Sept.. 1914. said

theater was inconvenienced greatly last
evening by the breaking of the recti
fier in the lamp house thereby reduc
ing the amount of light that could be
thrown on the screen. This reduced the
beauty of the picture, "The Brute"
which was being run.
The picture is a great one from every
standpoint. This will be well proven
when the run is made this evening with
the new rectifier. "The Brute" is one
of th greatest pictures that has ever
been turned out with the Famous play
ers stamp on it. Maledim Williams is
the leading actor in the cast.
