Poultry Association Meets in An nual Session Saturday; The prospects are excellent that many new members will join the Arizona State Poultry Association at the annual meeting Saturday after noon at the board of trade building. Postmaster (.'. B. Wood, for many years an enthusiastic poultry fancier, i and at one time superintendent .of the poultry department at the State Fair, before he became fair secretary, has announced his ijitention of join ing the state poultry association at the annual meeting, because he be lieves that the work of the associa tion is of great benefit to the poultry fanciers, and poultry breeders of the valley. Mr. Wood says that "in the old days when poultry breeding was new, people would send away and g a few chickens but soon would lose interest, and the result . was poor inatings and not much improvement in., the stock." . ' - The work of the association has been to create an interest, and stir up enthusiasm, and ux the same time by an interchange of ideas, poultry breeders are learning how to care for their fowls, how to mate for the best results, and how to show them so as to win the blue ribbon, Best of all they are learning that poultry riiihtly managed is a paying propo sition. .Another to apply for membership in the association yesterday was Harry Welch, secretary of the board of-' trade, and booster exteraordinary for the state of Arizona. Mr. Welch is not a breeder of fancy chickens .just at the present time, but is in terested in seeing the industry de velop, and believeing that the asso ciation is helping to build up this in dustry as no other institution can, he will " take hold and boost and 'help to make the association, better aTid stronger for 191!; than it ..has ever been before. Application for membership may be left at the board of trade, and every one--Interested in the poultry- busi ness is urged t join.
