the fresh ebullition of speculative
hysteria, which was most conspicu
ous in various industrial equipment
issues, today's active stock market
was essentially two sided. That is
buying of specialties was frequently
offset by heavy selling of standard
shares which yielded an early ad
vantage though closing vith general
gains. Unrestrained trading the
first half hour, probably without
parallel in the annals of the local
exchange, was confined in 1 a great
measure to shares ' of companies
which were supposed to le in receipt
of remunerative orders from Kuro
pean belligerents. American Loco
motive rose more than' eighteen
points at the outset and Xew York
brake sixteen and numerous other
industrials equipment, from five to
eight points. Later air brake ad
vanced to eighteen points. Rankers
reported a marked increase in de
mand of high grade investment is
sues. Refined copper rose to the
new high price of 19' cents. Total
sales of stocks amounted to 1,l.ri0,S00
shares.

ency and another large volume of
trading. Total sales represented a
par value of $4,043,000.

held at the Home on Thursday after

reported an enrollment of 322 to
date, a gain of 113 in one week. In
this number five other states and six
counties in Arizona are represented.
It was the unanimous sentiment of
the organization that Governor Hunt
be asked to stand firm in what is
believed to be his purpose in direct
ing that water be used in christening
the Battleship Arizona. It was sug
gested that the advertising all Ari
zona would receive from the use of
the first water to flow over the spill
way of the Roosevelt dam for this
christening was .-m opportunity too
good to miss. The' president was

news of this action.
At the close of the business routine
Miss Pendleton sang very pleasingly.
