Business furniture then, must first be efficient. The office desk must be something more than. a. table to write on, the filing cabinet something more than a closet to poke things into yet grace and beauty should not be side-tracked when the office furniture is bought. .Consider the desk; whether it be wood or steel it should contain within its user's reach every possible accessory or auxiliary to the dispatch of business. A glass desk pad isn't a bad scheme price lists and other data are always visible without beine in the way. -There's also a difference in efficiency in office chairs. The swivel chair should swing easily on its pinions, not wabble or squeak; the spring holding the back should be strong, so that stout gentlemen may not suddenly t turn turtle. There should be comfortable arm chairs for visitors; the order from the out-of-town cus tomer will be closed more rapidly when the order giver is himself made comfortable first. The efficiency-seeking office manager will not overlook'the many desk accessories', some one or two of which invariably furnish -"short cuts" to this or that filing draws, swinging stands, stationery cabinets, etc . Good office furniture provokes good business. The customer or other visitor to an office filled with odds and ends, or with the bargain relics of other men's failures, which came via the auction route or the sheriffs sale, or with the ugly furniture "that father used" full of sentiment, but shy on utility, is apt to conclude that the service is. on a par with its furnishings.
