OBITUARY
Funeral of Herschel Cast
Funeral services for the late Hersch
el Cast, who died at his home, 926 East
Taylor street, last Tuesday, will be
held at the Moore and McBellan un
dertaking parlors Monday morning at

The couple married in June, 1915, and
the following January the defendant
is alleged to have failed to live up to
his obligations in matter of support.

husband, Sherman J. Robinson, struck j
her with a horsewhip was the testi- j
mony of Mrs. Nancy E. Robinson in ;
the divorce court yesterday. Mrs.:
Robinson testified to numerous- alleged t
acts of cruelty which made -her life
with Robinson unbearable and prompt
ed her to leave home more than a year
ago. The couple married in Oklahoma'
in 1912 and the fact that her husband
drank was one of the reasons snt
gave for his alleged brutality. Mrs.
Robinson was granted a decree and

ARRAIGNED ON BOGUS CHECH.
CHARGE Arrested on complaint of
Rose H. Bong, of the SU Francis
rooming house, J. A- Moore was ar
raigned before Justice Wheeler yester
day on the charge of obtaining money
by a bogus check. Moore, who claims
! to be a remittance man who believed
he had sufficient funds to cover the
amount of the check drawn on the
Central bank, will be given his pre
liminary hearing at 10 o'clock Monday
morning. His bond was fixed at S300
! which he failed to furnish.

brought by Ira E. Troutner against
Walter Hill and the Walter Hill com
pany in which the jury failed to agree.
The suit was based on Hill's sale of
"cider" to Troutner, who claimed it J
was represented to him as non-alco- j

convicted of violation of the liquor law
through the sale of the beverage.

Boys I'm in laughing humor today having seen. an illustration of a
bird's reasoning instincts, and a man's unreasonable' instincta. I '
dare say but little of this particular man, he heing my superior in
mental, physical, and progenital qualifications, but in downright,
suavity, gush, and pleasing demeanor, P'st, he's not in it. Lining
up at a barred pigeon hole, I had precedence, but stepping aside I
invited "a breath of sunshine, with tinted cheeklets, gold filled
teethlets and bewitching eyes,;! to take my place. What was on the
ceiling to divert HIS orbs: what occasioneS HIS fingers to, rap a
drum tattoo: what was wrong with buttons on HIS surtout, that
necessitated plucking: what forced HIS shoulders to keep tw-itchiiig,
and his long drawn face to appear so wise. I scarce determined, but
'twas evident that I was the monkey, to whom he tried to direct the
sweet lady's scorn: He'd give three bucks now to have kept still.
"Anything wrong?" queried my protectress. "St. Vitus dance threat
ened? Fleas gathering on shoulders? Vest fit too closely? Prat
ticing drumming for a parade? Seat you occupy very, hard?"
"Put 'er there," I roared, to this gracious angel, "and let's glide to
Donofrio's:" "No! Xo!" she responded, "come to MY sanctuary
where PAPA and POLLY preside." We went: Formalities over,
Papa, Polly and I entered into conversation, while she flitted around,
intent on home duties. The bird's sagacity was fully manifest and
a regular catechism gone through by him, until I ventured to ask. If
HE, the BIRD, swore? She acted very much disconcerted at my
presumptious question, and quite forcibly replied negatively. Papa
seemed at this moment very much amused, and in hiding his
grinning face, tipped his chair, jarred the mantle, and down came
a candelabrla plump on his toe, which by doubling the leg he seized,
and giving one blatant war hoop, ended in pirouetting in gymnastic
antics' around the room to the frenzied delight of that bird, who
turned himself loose. Listen! I pose as an expert in profane litera
ture, and carry several medals in attest of superiority, but as I said
in last night's poker game when the boys skinned me, "Now I
pass:" The beauty of the bird's anathemas was the musical, and
uninterrupted volubility and volatilaty of his "oratory." Of course
I cannot here put the "verbatum" in print, but I can be personally
interviewed, and most willingly will edify all friends. After Papa
cooled off, and my abashed lady acquaintance gained self possession,
I smothered her attempted apology, and we all roared in delight.'
She and I are warm friends now, and assisted by the radiant efful
gence of our glowing Ariz, sun, we are getting warmer in self
esteem, and just as quick as I nerve to the exploding point, "the
question pops:" Listen! we lined up before that "gink" in the
"pigeon hole," yesterday, exchanging sarcastic jests, but not a grin
resulted: On te contrary a sphynx stoicism greeted our presence.
They say he wears HORNS .when in lodge, and is master of a
society called "bilks." Wonder if he designs "bilking" Ford again?
