CLUB TO GIVE PICNIC
GLENDALE, June 26. The ladies of
the Goodfellowship club held a meeting
Wednesday at the home of Mrs. L. W.
Hoel. The meeting was very well at
tended in spite of the extreme heat.
The program rendered was especially
pleasing, being prepared and given by
the children. The hostesses were Mrs.
Holmes and Mrs. Pothast
The next meeting will be an all-day
picnic at the home of Mrs. C. J. Mason.
It Is an open meeting and all members
are urged to bring their friends. A
basket dinner will be served at noon.
It will be known as "Children's day."
All Set for the Cantaloupe Campaign
The loading sheds are being made
ready for the shipping of cantaloupes.
Crutchfield and Woolfolk will load their
first car Saturday. Growers report
that the hot weather is bringing the
melons on quickly. Next week will see
Glendale again the busy place that she
always is during cantaloupe season-

L. B. Nickerson, the plumber, baa re
ceived a large shipment of fine fixtures
from the house of Crane. The town is
now issuing permits for the connection
with the new sewer. Many are install
ing fixtures.
Leave for Kansas
W. W. Little leaves Saturday for
Savonburg. Kansas, to Join his wife and
his son. Ab, who has lately returned
from overseas. The Littles will spend
the summer in Kansas.
To Make Home Here ;
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roseboro and little
daughter Annie arrived today from Mi
ami. They expect to make Glendale
their future home, having bought prop
erty in Catlin Court. Mrs. Roseboro is
the daughter of W. W. Little.
Recovers From Accident '
Mrs. Roy Barton is improving from
injuries received in a bad fall about six
weeks ago. She is staying at the home
of J. F. Lewis.
Return From School
Frances and Elizabeth Jack have re
turned from St Louis where they have
been attending school.
NEW YORK, June 26 In its general
aspects, today's stock market duplicat
ed the previous session, the turnover
again falling far below recent high to
tals, with specialties manifesting con
spicuous strength-
Money conditions were under better
control, probably as a result of lessened
demand. Call loans opened at 9 to 9
per cent, fell to 6 at midday and closed
a fraction under the latter quotation.
Better industrial advices were help
ful to equipments, although the
strength of those shares was materially
assisted by the excellent p.nnual state
ment of the American Car company.
Reports that contracts for heavy pur
chases of copper may soon be awarded
by foreign interests gave fresh mo
mentum to metals and specialties, not
ably chemicals and fertilizers were ac
celerated by the "extra" dividend on
Virginia-Carolina Chemical.
Trading in the intermediate periods
lacked initiative or incentive, but the
pace quickened as money relaxed,
steels, tobacco, food shares and local
tractions rising briskly in the final
hour.

On the constructive side. Chandler
motors led at an advance of 22 points,
other motors, their subsidiaries, equip
ments, oils and miscellaneous issues
showin ggains of 2 to 5 points. Sales

eral domestic easier and internationals
irregular. Total sales, par value, $8 -750.000.
Old United States registered
