Livestock conditions on the Apache Indian reservation continue good, cattle and horses there reported as doing fine. Thousands of sheep and goats are win tering in the Congress Junction sec tion of Arizona and are in most satis factory condition. Cotton picking made satisfactory progress during the week and is rapidly nearing its end. Those in a position to know state that picking is fully six weeks in advance - of - last year and ginning the same. Washington at 5th Ave. Last night, at the end of the s-ecor.d day of the trial of the damage suit of M. Joe Murphy against H. A. Gray for $10,000 for malicious prosecution, the jury brought in a verdict for the plain tiff fr $'00. This is the outgrowth of a dispute which arose at the time of the dog show at the state fair of two years ago. The defendant was super intendent of the dog exhibit, the plain tiff a prominent member and officer of the kennel club. Gray charged Murphy with embez zling certain of the funds of the club, a quantity" of dog biscuit and trophies of the Moose lodge, and brought a civil suit to recover. That was dismissed and suits for damage were instituted by Murphy against Gray and A. II. Fitz, one of the organizers of the ken nel club. The action against F"itz was disposed of by settlement last October. ffilSTSJEf LD ON L e Walter Weast and his cousin, Wil liam L. Weast, charged with taking a quantity of guns, ammunition and hardware from the Arizona Hardware and Supply company's warehouse at Third avenue and Jackson street last Monday night, waived their examina tion yesterday in Judge McKee's court and were held to answer to the su perior court under bond of "0 each. They failed to furnish the required sums. William Weast was employed as night watchman by the hardware firm and his arrest took place after Wal ter Weast had been apprehended near the scene of the alleged burglary by Officer Graham of the police force. o SUPERVISORS ALSO SEEK UNION DEPOT "Whereas, the war is now over," begins one paragraph of a set of reso lutions passed yesterday by the board of supervisors, "the citizens of Phoenix and the commercial organizations of the city and county believe the time has arrived for extensive improve ments and betterments io be carried out bv the railroads entering Phoenix."
