SHERIFF FINDS KEYS Ten keys
on a ring were found in the court yard
yesterday by Sheriff Montgomery. The
owner may have them by calling at
the sheriff's office . and identifying
them.

before Justice McKee to a charge of
conducting a disreputable house and
was release! when she furnished a
bond of $300 to appear for trial on
June 23.
MOVIES TO TEACH HEALTH
The state department of health yester
day received two films, '"The House
Fly," and "The Priceless Gift of
Health," which will be used as propa
ganda throughout the state. At the
department's headquarters in the state
house it. was not known just when or
where the films would he shown,

cashier of the Arizona Copper com
pany, appeared before the state tax
commission yesterday. The, tentative
assessment had been placed at $25.

in the valuation of the mines, Mr.
Cooper presented figures to the com
mission relative to last year's produc
tion and cost of production. The com
mission has taken the matter under
advisement.

ISSUES RESTRAINING ORDER
An order restraining Paul Beville of
-Mesa from filling up or otherwise in
terfering with the flow of water
through a lateral ditch on his land was
issued yesterday by Judge Lyman. The
order was asked lor in a suit brought
against Mr. Beville by Mrs. Emma P.
Allen of Mesa. Mrs. Allen alleges that
she owns two lots adjoining those of
Mr. Beville and says that the irrigation
water for her lots is received through
a lateral ditch crossing one of his lots.
Between April and June, 1920, she al
leges, Beville filled up the ditch and
cut off her supply of irrigation water.
Unless the order Is made permanent,
she says, she will suffer irreparable
damages. Her crops have been dam
aged $1000 now, she says, and she ask
for a judgment for that amount in ad
dition to the order to maintain the
ditch.
ASK HIGHER RATES Claiming
that it was operating at - loss, the
Desert Power and Water company
asked for an increase in its rates at- a
hearing before the corporation com
mission yesterday. Representatives of
the company testified that rates had
been given to the big mines that the
company supplies with power, includ
ing among others the Tom Reed and
United Eastern in the Oatman district,
and the discounts on large consump
tion resulted , in the power being fur
nished at less thaif cost. The company
claimed that the rate it charged the
mines was 1.0! a kilowatt and the ac
tual cost . including depreciation was
3.30 a kilowatt. The high cost of labor
and the advance in the price of oil were
mentioned as factors in the losses. No
order has as yet been made by the
commission.

KENTUCKIANS TO VISIT HERE
Dr. and Mrs. John L. Dismukes of
Mayfield. Kentucky, will be visitors in
Phoenix in July, according to word re
ceived yesterday by John D. Harris.
Dr. Dismukes is one of the delegates
to the San Francisco convention, and
en route for their home he and Mrs.
Dismukes will stop over in Phoenix for
two weeks. They will be the guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Harris.
TO ADVERTISE PHO EN IX Armed
with several thousand bales of Arizona
long staple cotton at $1.25 a pound to
advertise the Salt River valley, Arthur
G. Hulett, past potentate of El Zaribah
temple. Order of the Mystic Shrike, has
gone to Seattle to attend the annual
convention of the Shriners. These
several thousand bales are printed on
falling cards of convenient size. Mr.
Hulett got the bales from the Phoenix
chamber of commerce to advertise the
valley while on his trip and said he
believed every person taking a trip of
consecmence should go armed with
this or some other kind of a convincing
development card. The chamber of
commerce had the cut of the bale of
cotton made for Mr. Hulett's benefit,
but is is available for any other Salt
River valley people wishing cards.
