BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF STATE INSTITUTIONS, By WM. J. DONAHUE, Purchasing Agent. o NEW YORK, June 30. Belief that monetary conditions are likely to im prove within the next six months and reports that several European govern ments contemplate early reduction of their obligations to this country gave a degree of stability to the stock mar ket today. This more nopeiui found expression in the day's broader operations, although the volume of bus iness was not appreciably in excess of the week's low records. Conserva tive brokers and commission houses, for the first time in several weeks, sounded a note of encouragement, sup porting their change of attitude with liberal purchases of selected stocks. Equipments and steels were most favored, oils, motors, chemicals and shippings also advanced, together with diverge specialties, at extreme gains of nn in frp nnlnts. Rails trailed along and utilities as reported by the express companies made the most substantial advances. Profit taking and the steady advance of call loans from their opening rate of nine per cent to 15 per cent just before the finish served to reduce many irnins to rninor proportions. Sales amounted to 325,000 shares. In addition to the higher rate for call money, which equalled the maxi mum Quotation of recent months, a firmer trend was noted in tne marKet for time funds. Many mid-year ma turities were renewed at 84 to 84 per cent, but accommodations for longer dates were exceedingly scarce. Rail road, utility and industrialbonds eased variably, but Liberty and international Issues were steady on smaller dealings Total sales, par value," were $11,500,000 Old U. S. bonds were unchanged on call. NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE Furnished By R.
