TUESDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 7, 1920 PAGE SEVEN - VES LOTS TO LOCAL CHOUGH Announcement that an 1 1 n n n m r rl member of the First Presbyterian church had presented two lots in the eastern part of the city to the church was made at the services last Sunday morning by Rev. Arthur Lee Odell, the Pastor. ' Practically the only conditions ac companying the gift were that the church hold the property ten years, that a mission be erected on the site if practical, and that any revenue ac cruing: from the property be divided equally between the Woman's Mission ary society and the Young People's So ciety of Christian Endeavor. The donor also stipulated that his or her name be withheld, aad in order that the identity might be protected all papers in connection with the transfer were made by the Phoenix Title and Trust company as trustees. Following: are the conditions which accompanied the deed: To "Whom Concerned: In deeding lot3 11 and 12, block 43, Collins addition to Phoenix, to the trustees of the First Presbyterian church of Phoenix, the donor desires that the following suggestions be fol lowed: First, th-.it, if feasible, at some future date a mission church shall be estab lished at thi3 location. Second, that any rentals or benefits derived from such property shall be divided equally between the Woman's Missionary society and the Young Peo ple's Society of Christian Endeavor. Third, that the property shall not be disposed of before July 15, 1930. At some succeeded date, should the con gregation of the First Presbyterian church of Phoenix decide to sell said property, it must be sold with the un derstanding that the proceeds of such sale shall be divided equally between the following: One-third, "Woman's Missionary society. One-third, Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. One-third, Property account. First Presbyterian church of Phoenix. (Signed) THE DONOR. A rising vote of thanks was tendered the unknown donor for his generous gift after Rev. Odell had presented the deeds to the president of the board of trostees. Rev. Odell expressed the opinion that the congregation of the First Presby terian church will make early arrange ments to carry out the wishes of the donor of the lots and establish a mis sion on the site. o A silver mace is to be presented to the Ameri'can College of Surgeons by the consulting surgeons of the British armies in memory of mutual work and good fellowship in the world war. CHANDLER NEWS . CHANDLER, Sept. 6. Ross Putnam of the Gardner Ilarmer Drug company left Monday evening for San Diego and Los Angeles, where he will spend the next three weeks on a vacation. Dance a Success The dance given at Freeman hall Saturday eveniner proved a genuine success and a large crowd was in at- J tendance. New York. 1101 MEN OF CITY OBSERVE DAY WITH IMPRESSIVE PARADE Labor day was observed yesterday by the Phoenix trades council with a parade in which 13 of the local trades unions were represented. Some of the organizations, such as the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, wore a distinctive garb, and the parade was featured by the large number of American flags carried by representatives of the vari ous unions. Loading the parade was part of the citv band, which also represented the Musicians' union. Following came the carpenters, electricians, sheet metal workers, bricklayers, painters, plas terers, the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, the hodcarriers, the Federal union, the Typographical union, the barbers and the brick and clay workers. The parade formed at the Labor tem ple at Third and Washington streets and marched to Adams, thence to Sec ond avenne. thence to Washington and back to the Labor temple. The ar rangements for the parade were made by a special committee of the Phoenix trades council. No other activities featured the day for the labor unions, with the exception of the Mexican members of the Fed eral union, who held an open-air meet ing in the city plaza at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. o O.
