ERROR IN TIRE AD. Through a
mechanical error a small column of list
prices on fabric tires appeared upside
down in the advertisement of the
Western Auto Suppy agency In yester
day mornings Republican. The error
was apparent, however, so that It
could he seen that the Inverted prices
were not correct. An error also ap
peared in the sale prices of two sizes
or cord tires.
TROOP A SMOKER Members of
Troop A, First Arizona cavalry, will
Kive a smoker and light refreshment
at troop headquarters. 213 Kast Madi
son street, at 8 o'clock tonight. The
public Is cordially invited to attend.
All members of the troop are expected
to be present, as there are many mat

HIGHWAYS WEATHER BULLETIN
Rain and snow fell Tuesday and
Tuesday night over the northern and
central parts of the state. Improving
roads where precipitation was light
and making them slippery and unsafe
where heavier. About one foot of snow
lay on the ground "Wednesday morn
ing in the vicinity of Flagstaff. Nearly
two Inches of rain fell at Roosevelt
dam while snow covered the surround
ing mountains. Rain and snow fell In
the vicinity of Prescott but the amount
is not known; more than an Inch of
ram was reported at Granite Reef dam
As a large amount of precipitation
occurred in Coconino and Yavapai
counties, near the Santa Fe railway,
roaaa in that secilon are In bad con
dltion.

Only the number cast on the engine
of the motor made it possible for J.
R. Fje to Identify his Maxwell auto
mobile, stolen Thursday Light, when
he came upon a sorry looking object in
a wash 15 miles north of Phoenix yes
terday. The car had been completely
tripped of every detachable thing,
even a seat cushion Deing missing.
The tires, rims, lights, batteries and
other accessories had been removed
and carted away.
Fye's car was stolen from Phoenix.
Thursday evening. The owner started
a wide search for the missing motor
and finally located It north of Hyatt's
camp yesterday. Damage to the car
will total several hundreds of dollars.

City and county officials have been
asked to aid in a county-wide search
for 10-year-old Harry Davis, who has
been missing from his home, 726 East
Pierce street, since 5 o'clock Saturday I
evening.
The little fellow strayed away with
out giving his parents any idea as to
his Intended destination. When he did
not return by midnight, a search of the
neighborhood was started, and then
city and county officers were notified.
W hen last seen, he was wearing a
grey suit, a scout hat, black shoes and
stockings.

A MODEL CONSTABLE
Everybody in the East Phoenix pre
cinct knows that Haze Burch is again
candidate for constable of that pre
cinct, and almost everybody. Demo
crat and Republican, is Intending to
vote for him. Mr. Burch is said by
those who have observed his work to
be one of the best constables that ever
served in Arizona. When Sheriff
Montgomery was undecided whether
he would be a candidate for re-elec
tion. Mr. Hurch had been picked as
the Republican candidate for that of
fice In the event that Mr. Montgomery
should yield to his own Inclination and
retire to private life.
Mr. Burch. as constable, did ' not
think that his duty was fully per
formed in serving the Warrants that
were handed to him. either in civil or
criminal cases. Many matters that
did not properly belong in court but
which would ultimately have found
their way there at considerable ex.
pense to litigants or the county were
submitted to him as a sort of referee
and amicable adjustments were made.

The advance on consignments of
Pima cotton to the People's National
banK of Boston through Calder & Rich
mond has been reduced from 35c to 25
a pound, according to advices received
yesterday by M. P. Smith, local repre
sentative of Calder & Richmond. Mr
Smith's announcement of the reduc
tion said:
"Advices from the People's National
bank to Calder & Richmond reduce ad
vances on consignments of Pima cot
I ton from 85c a pound gross weight to
2oo a pound gross weight. The pres
ent cotton market in the east ia abso
lutely stagnant and money is far from
free. This move is made as much to
protect the grower of cotton as to
ease the bank. It is very probable the
cotton market, while only nominal, will
fall somewhat below the low present
level. Absolutely no sales are being

IS NEXT WEDNESDAY

nual meeting of the Central Arizona
chapter to be held at 4 o'clock next
Wednesday afternoon in the chamber
of commerce building. The local Red
C ross chapter is now planning Its peace
time worK and at the annual meeting
memrwrs will elect the board of dlrec
tors for the coming year.
Though many persons are under the
impression that Its work stopped with
the ending of the war and the war pe
riod, the Red Cross is now engaged In
a projrram of peace time work as im
portant and as worthy of interest and
support as its war operations. With
this the case, it is naturally essential
that members of the rreat organization
continue to take part in its activities
