Benjamin Rice and J. W. Sadler head ed the team which brought In the Irish core of 577 yesterday. Tim work ers under F. O. Paino added $120 to the fund and $103 was realized from the booths. Leaders in the campalgm for an anti tuberculosis fund with which to carry on health work In Maricopa county ex pressed the opinion last night that the coal of $10,000 originally set would be more than doubled before the drive was brought to a close Christmas eve. Predictions are being freely made among the workers that the original goal will be reached 1n this the first week of the drive. "By its active interest and liberal response to this work Phoenix and Maricopa county has indicated an ap preciation and desire for a permanent clinic here," was the comment of T. C. Cuvellier, executive secretary of the Arizona Anti-Tuberculosis association. "PJneouraged by this attitude of the people here,, a. special committee, brought together Wednesday night, de cided to establish a permanent clinic by the first of January. I'art of the money realized from this drive will be devoted to this institution. However, renerous portion of the general fund will be reserved to give the children a real outing next summer. All the money obtained in hls campaign will be devoted to bettering" conditions in Maricopa county." Much Interest In Drive So great la the Interest in this cam paign for a worthy home cause that many have called the headquarters at $00 Bast Adams street to ascertain w nether money can be sent direct. Ar rangements have been made to receive and credit all donations addressed to .the Maricopa Anti-Tuberculosis asso ciation, $00 East Adams street, and much money will be turned over to the general fund for which it is designated. Thte arrangement has been made be cause of the Impossibility of reaching all the people who desire to contribute through personal solicitation. This was Illustrated by a woman who brought 10 to the headquarters yesterday. She aid ahe had the money ready, expect ing one of the canvassers to call. When ahe returned home from a trip to the city yesterday she was Informed hy Br maid that the campaign worker bad made the visit She Immediately took the envelope containing1 the $10 ahe had laid aside direct to 300 East Adams street. "These workers are good enough to donate their services," she declared, and It would be very unjust of me to expect thera to make a second call at my home." More volunteer workers are i eeded. There la work to be done at headquar ters which only requires a fhort time In the evening. The Council of Jewish WomjJi will be In charge of the booth at the rost office today; Daughters of the King (of Trinity Pro-Cathedral) will have charge of the Central pharmacy bocth, and the Woman's club the booth at Ooldwater's. o WOULD-BE ELOPERS CAUGHT NOG ALES, Dec. 9.
