ence Dana, state dairy commissioner,
returned yesterday from the southern
part of the state where he has been

Mote, state entomologist, left yester
day for Tucson where he will spend
the remainder of the week.
GOES TO HEARING F. A. Jones,
member of the corporation commis
sion, left last evening for San Fran
cisco, where he will attend the hear
ing of the Southern Sierra Power com
pany, which is asking for a substan
tial increase in hydro-electric water
power. Both the California and Ari
zona commissions are interested in the
case, Arizona's interest centering in
Somerton, Yuma and Yuma valley.

sit in a series of hearings in Yuma,
beginning December 17, going from
there to Globe, where he will take up
a number of matters. He expects to
return to Phoenix shortly before the

CHRISTMAS FOR STATE CHARG
ES The annual Christmas gifts are
being sent to the boys and girls at
the Fort Grant state Industrial school
by woman's clubs and individuals all
over the state. Any person who is in
terested in making these young 'peo
ple happier during the holidays, may
send candy, fruit, nuts or raisins, the
packages to start not later than De
cember 18. The name and address of
the sender should be on hoth outside
and inside of each package. A letter
from the superintendent to Mrs. Ro
land C. Dryer, who has twice visited
the school, expresses pleasure that the
boys and girls are to be remembered
again this year. The new buildings
are now occupied, and conditions
much less crowded than a year ago.

PLAN CELEBRATION The Rev.
G. D. Yoakum, pastor of the Congre
gational church, appeared before the
directors to ask them to provide a
float for the parade to be held later
in the month in celebration of the ter
centenary anniversary of the landing
of the Pilgrims. The directors, after
some consideration, came to the con
clusion that the chamber of commerce
could not furnish a float, but would
appoint a committee to assist Mr.
Yoakum in his plans for the anniver
sary. ASKS .REHEARING Peter Kepon,
who was awarded damages in the
superior court from Twohy Brothers,
the decision being reversed by the
higher court, yesterday filed a motion.

MAY RETURN TO STAY Dr. and
Mrs. Charles P. Stevens of Paducah,
Ky., who have been visiting at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Ragan,

road, for the past month, left last
night for their home. They plan to
return next fall and make their fu
ture home here.

WOULD DISSOLVE COMPANY
Petition for the voluntary dissolution
of the Cuban Development company
was filed in the superior court yester
day by Ned Creiehton. According to
the petition, the company is an Ari
zona corporation with its principal of-
ices In Phoenix. The petition states
that on Nov. 29, 1920. a resolution was
passed by the stockholders, who as
sembled at Detroit, Mich., directing
the officers of the company to take the
necessary steps for the dissolution of
the company. All liabilities of the
company have been satisfied, the pe
tition states, and the assets of the
company distributed among the stock
holders in accordance with the resom
ticn. An order was entered yesterday
bv Judge Stanford citing the corpora
tion to anoear in his court on Dec. .20
at 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon to snow
cause why the petition should not be
granted.

office last night about 9 o'clock. The
car was taken from its parking on

Dec 13. at 8:30, the Woodmen of the
World and Woodmen Circle will give a
masquerade ball in Odd Fellows hall,
Besse's orchestra furnishing the mu

come. OWLS ORGANIZING The mem
bership committee of the Phoenix nest
of the Order of Owls, now forming,
met at its headquarters Wednesday
evening and received the report of
Organizer Reid. A' number of appli
cants secured by the organizer were
approved by the committee and the
organizer was given another list of
Phoenix citizens to interview and in-
vile to join. The publicity commit tee
is working on a plan to bring the film
"The Owl" to this city and exhibit it
at some of the local theaters.

for the Arizona American-Bgyptlon
Cotton Growers' association, will speak
to the high school students in assem
bly at 3:15 o'clock Thursday after
noon, Dec. 16, on " 'Character Cloth
and the Textile Industrial institute at
Spartanburg, N. C" The object of
the address will be to acquaint the
coming generation with the great pos
sibilities in the manufacture of cloth
from Pima cotton and the probability
of a future development of markets
for Pma cotton for fine spinners.

Reorganization of the National
Guard as announced by Adjutant Gen
eral Walter S. lngalls on his return
from San Antonio last November,
where he attended the meeting of ad
jutant generals of this district, has be
come a fact, announcement Jiaving
been received yesterday that tire sec
retary of war had approved the ten
tative program. The allotment of
national guard troops, based on a ra
tio of a minimum of 800 men per
senator and representative in con
gress for the state of Arizona, will be
as follows:
Division troops: one infantry bri
gade headquarters; one infantry regi
ment, one fieui artillery regiment
headquarters: one field artillery bat
talion; one field artillery regimental
headquarters company; one field artil
lery regimental supply company.
Corps troops: One truck company.
The original allotment was a cav
alry and a field artillery with which
the adjutant general has authority to
convert or cusDana into one infantry
Dauaiion and one field Infantry bat
talion before June 30, 1921.
