GREER PLUMBING HEATING BE VOTED 01 DEC. 31 Here are the road bonds facts: If the good road bonds carry on Dec. 31, every farm in Maricopa county 'ftiU be put in touch with paved highways. If the bonds do not carry, no farm er or landowner in the county will know whether his farm will be served by raved roads, as only a small sec tion of roads can be constructed in that case. The $4,000,000 of the first bond lssu will be used up by mid-summer, 1921, at the present rate of construction. If no further funds are in sight by that time, the work will have to stop. If the work has to stop, Maricopa county will be left with an unfinished road program. Some roads on some of the shortest hauls will -have been constructed. The rest of the project will be "up in the air." ' Some people are argtiins that the rest of the program can be taken cSre of later- They say more bonds can be voted at a later election. These peo ple are mistaken. If only part, of the project is finished, the construction of the other half will be a most expensive matter since that half will be discon nected and will be on the lnoger hauls. If the present contractors leave after the funds of the first bond issue are used tip it will be impossible to obtain another reasonable bid. For if the new contractors' did bid, they would have to bid on the longer hauls, They would also have to go to the expense of putting in a new plant. If the bonds are voted, the entire project can and will be completed with the plant now installed. This means a great saving to the county. The highway commission has been advised by its attorneys, KJbbey and Bennett, that It will be necessary to call again for bids for the construction of the roads under this new bond is sue. This means that we will be able to take advantage of a falling market of materials in the forthcoming con tract. Twohy Brothers, the contractors, have made the following official dec laration: "If the bond election to be held on Dec. 31 carries, when new bids are called we will submit competitive bids for the completion of the road program. If by the time such bids be submitted the prices of material and labor are lower, our bid will be lower. Vote the bonds on Dee. 31 and the j entire project will be carried out at once in the most methodical, econom ical and uniform manner- Every farm er and landowner will then have the paved roads. If the bonds did not carry a few people would be enjoying the benefits of paved highways, for which the other people, whose reads are not paved, will be paying. It is the part of wisdom and of true econ omy to carry out the whole project, to finish the job, and to vote for the bonds. OFFICIJLFIllL! PlESEiS WATGif TO GOV.
