1. The senior class of Phoenix union
Mgh school is determined to make
ti. event one long to be remembered
ft high school events. Senior night
in the one big senior event of the
Jear, for It is the last time the seniors
-operate in an affair before their
final appearance on graduation night.

sented a class play as their last ef
prt of high school days, but as a
matter of variety and to make the
avent etand out in the list of senior
Fights, the class this year decided
tu bring the glee club of the Univer-1
!ty of Arizona to Phoenix in a con- ,
ert which is certain to be enjoyed
tc the utmost by all.
-The glee club of the University of
Arizona has rightfully won a name
as one of the best in the entire West
They have appeared in many parts of
the state and in numerous cities on
the coast, and everywhere comes the
word that the club is an organization
of. evceljence, well trained, and one
hith presents a program which is
received with the highest apprecia
tion everywhere. One coast critic
scribed them as professionals, and
tsas much surprised when he learned
they were college students.
There Is another reason connected
yiih the concert tonight at the high
rhool auditorium by the University
At Arizona glee club. It makes the
event doubly interesting and adds an
incentive to make the attendance a
fer-ord breaker.
The senior class desires to leave be
fcjnd them a memorial as their part
gift to the school which means so

tive a warm place in their hearts
11 their lives. After much consid
eration the class decided that nothing
euld be more fitting than a life-size
tatue of that great American. Theo
dore Roosevelt. Therefore the pro
ceeds from the concert tonight will
used for that purpose.
-A ticket selling contest has been
tondueted by the senior class during
tje past week, the contest being be?
tieen the boys. and the girls. Gen

Reserved seats for the glee club
concert tonight will be on sale at the
registrar's office at the high school

auditorium also will be shown in a
diagram at Vic nanny's today from
11 a.m. to 1 p. m. and from 4 to S
p. m. tonight, where tickets .may be
secured.

two. The local College club also will
occupy two rows of seats.
There are still many desirable
seats available. Those who fail to
secure seats will be accommodated
when they call at the door of the au
ditorium tonight, as the entire audi
torium is to be reserved and the seat
ing capacity is large.
The University of Arizona glee club
appeared in concert last night at
Mesa and was greeted by a large and
appreciative audience. The glee club
will visit the high school in Phoenix
today and undoubtedly will entertain
the student body in assembly. A
quartette from the club will be at the
Rotary club luncheon today noon at
the T. M .C. A.
President von KleinSmid of the
university is. expected to be present
at the concert tonight. It will be a
great reunion night for all U. of A.
students and alumni. To the young
prospective student it will give a view
of college life; to the old college men
and women it will renew the happy
college days of song and fellowship.
A special committee will spend all of
today in decorating the auditorium
and stage so that it will assist in
furthering the spirit of college days.
The University of Arizona glee club
Is composed' of 12 members, assisted
by Maude Darling Weaver, contralto,
nd O. E. Weaver, director. Mr.
Weaver is director of music at the
university. ,
The personnel of the club is as fol

THREE-STORY HOTEL
TO BE ERECTED ON

Construction of a modern three
story hotel building to cost $-80,000
will be started immediately at the
northeast corner of Washington and
Fifth streets, it was announced yes
terday. Joseph "Valdrini of Prescott
will be the builder.
Purchase of the site by Mr. Val
drini from John Bonner for ' an
amount said to be $15,000 has only
recently been consummated, and is
an evidence of activity on the Phoe
nix real estate market.
Workmen were busy yesterday re
moving the sheds recently built on
this property, preparatory to actual
construction work on the new build
ing, it was said. Plans for the struc
ture were filed yesterday with the
city building inspector. - .- '
The structure will be of fireproof
materials throughout, the exterior of
the building to be finished with
glazed brick and terra cotta trim.
The first or main noor will contain
five storerooms and the hotel lobby.
The upper floors are divided Into
rooms for the hotel. The building
will be steam heated, with modern
plumbing and every convenience.
Plans for the building were pre
pared by the Herbert J. Mann Build
ing company, which firm will also
have charge of the erection. This
firm recently completed the new Sa
voy hotel building at Second avenue
and Jefferson street.
Mr. Valdrini has been a resident of
Arizona for more than 25 years. He
has extensive real " estate holdings
and mining interests in the northern
part of the state and is the owner
of the Valdrini hotel in I'rescott, a
four-story concrete building said to
have cost SlOO.PQn.
