Leased Wire SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 1 The poisoning of Mrs. Irene Morgan, a leading witness for the defense and the beginning of the closing argu ments of both sides were outstanding developmetns in the trial of Roscoe C. (Fatty) Arbuckle today. Leo Friedman an assistant district attorney, made the first exposition of the prosecution's contention that it has presented an unbreakable chain of evidence to link the comedian with the death of Virginia Rappe, whom it !,charges Arbuckle injured at a party in nis rooms at me num du rii;io here. Gavin McNab began what seemed likely to be the defense's only address, but was interrupted by ad journment of court for the day. The court room was crowded and many a would-be spectator was able to get no nearer the center of activ ities that the corridors of the Hall of Justice. Arbuckle appeared indifferent dur ing Friedman's argument, spending most of the time gazing around or fingering shreds of paper. Friedman told ''he jury tia "even if Arbuckle told the truth oa the stand it would be strong enough to convict him." for he admitted he left Miss Rappe after her injury without calling a doctor or telling anyone of her con dition. "Why has not the prosecution presented Bambina Maude Delmont, the complaining v.tness in this case?" McNab asked. He praised Mrs. Mor gan as a "heroin wounded in bat tle." ,Fingerpr:nty on the doors of the hotel St Francis room ' used by Arbuckle and sa d by the prosecu tion to be thoje cf Arbuckle and Miss Rappe, were called "spooks" by Mc Nab. "Arbuckle had but 10 minutes in that room vith Miss Rappe," he said. The action of the district attorney in placing witnesses tinder his custody "on the theory that they may be tampered with" was attacked by McNab Miss Zey Prevost, prosecution wit ness, was "terrorized" he said, in her appearances before the police and the grand jury because she would not say Miss Rappe referring to Arbuckle, exclaimed "He killed me." Mr. McNab was interrupted a num ber of timer by the prosecution on the charge that he was going outside the record in the case. HIS GIFT HERE UNION.
