Oliver H. - Shoup against the presence of rangers or any other body of troops In Huer " fano county and requested the sas pension of martial law invoked there recently as the result of a strike of - miners employed by the Colorado Fuel and Iron company. The protest, made in a letter sent to the governor today, deplored the Issuance of the. order proclaimin - martial law "in tn already peaceful district" as "an injustice, viewed from the standpoint of justice and economy." The protest states that "while the - presence of rangers or any other ; body of troops cannot hinder us in .the observance of the law, we feel that the people of Colorado should . .not be further burdened with the un necessary expense of keeping them . in the field."
