The tables and booths -were neatly arranged with fancy work aweater?3, wearing pparel ana other articles for Christ mas, gifts and when the selling was over the tables were entirely clean. Following the bazaar a program was given, including songs and in strumental musia. This was followed by an educational film that was pro jected on the screen by the school moving picture machine. Refresh ments were served and a jolly time was had by all." No Baseball Manager Iladley of the Greys was unable to schedule a game for the horns boys for Sunday and the fans of Glendale will be unable to see a game at home this week. However, it is hoped that next week the team will'be more euccessfuj. Children's Party a Suocess The children"s party give Saturday afternoon at tfie Woman's club house tinder the auspices of the library committee was a decided success and the children enjoyed a rare treat, as there was something- doing all the time. A fine program was given and the children joined ih in the most hearty manner. As near as could be counted some 140 children were pres ent. The women in charge want to take this means to thank the public spir ited people who Joined in whole heartedly and made the party a suc cess. Many business men and indi viduals contributed money, oranges and peanuts to help make the party a thriller. The amounts that were brought in by the children will be used to purchase books for the little folk which will be at their disposal on the shelves of the public library. The prizes in the different events were not awarded to individuals but to groups. Did Not Arrive Dr. K. T. Franklin made a hurried trip to Phoenix in the early morning hours this morning: to meet his fa ther, who is coming to Glendale from Owensboro. Ky., but was disappoint ed. Mr. Franklin senior expects to spend the winter in Glendale. Entertains at Birthday Party Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kearly were hosts at a dinner party this week celebrating Mrs. Kcarly's birthday. Glendale. bn "LADIES NIGHT" OF ROTARY CLUB IS A DELIGHTFUL AFFAIR The Rotary club annual ladies night Friday evening brought out a ' largo attendance and proved one of the most enjoyable affairs ever held by that organization. The Woman a ciub was a scene of color and life, and the fun, ran high until a late JtoTtr. ... Included In the rrogram which was enjoyed by many was a turkey din ner, a regular fashion show and a dance which was not concluded until the email hours b the clock had ar rived. It was an affair that added to the reputation of the Rotary club for delightful functions. . The dinner, consisting of turkey and many accompanying dishes all served in a splendid manner, started at 7 o'clock. The tables were filled with a representative gathering of Phoenix people. In response to the call for a service talk, Walter-Switzer, proprietor of Switz er's Style Shop, presented a fashion revue which was complete In every detail and worthy of a program aU its own. . . Mr. and Mrs. Bowman, who formerly conducted the Bowman Cafe here and later took charge of the Annex hotel, will be in charge of the culinary department. Both regular meals and a la carte service will be given at the Palace of Sweets. All meals will be home- cooked style. In addition to this feature, the new place will have an up-to-date soda fountain, a confec tionery department, and a depart ment where the, best brands of cigars, igarettes and tobaccos will be han dled. The place is being remodeled and new sanitary improvements are being added. The management announces that particular pains will be taken to keep every department scrupulously clean and invites visitors to inspect the kitchen or any other part of the establishment at any and all times.
