BODY TO ARRIVE The body of Charles Lowell Vardaman, who died in Albuquerque yesterday, will arrive here at 9:1S o'clock tonight. He was 21 years old. FINISH REDECORATION The work of redecorating the interiors of the Ingleside -club which has been going on for - ha last four - months and a half . unde- the direction of T. J. Litzenburg, aided by a force of three men, was finished Saturday. It included a. complete overhauling of the walls, woodwork and furniture for the establishing of complete har mony. It was finished in time for the rush of winter guests, though some of them have arrived within the last week or two. r- NO ROTARY CLUB LUNCHEON There will be no meeting Friday noon of the Rotary club, that being the time of the luncheon for the men in attendance at the State Industrial Conference which will be in session in Phoenix all day Thursday and Fri day. The city park board will attend the tnectinsc in a body, and the addresses will be de livered by men who have given spe cial thought to the subjects which they are to discuss. The meeting will begin promptly at 8 o'clock, and Judge Frank O. Smith 'will preside. Prof. John D. Loner, superintendent of the city schools, 'will explain in detail the parks now owned by the city, their, size and location. Auto camping grounds will be discussed by Barnet E. Marks and CoL J. H Mo Clintock. Parks for athletic purposes will be the subject of George IL-Todd. Under this head will come parks for memorial purposes with particular reference to one proposed in honor of Frank Luke. Jr. There will also be a discussion of a proposed stadium. An entertainment program has been arranged by Mrs. Shirley Christy, founder and director of the Arizona School of Music. It includes a vocal solo by Mr. Harrington, accompanied at the piano by Miss Daly, and a play- let,- Scene in the Park, an adap tation of an O. Henry story, in which. parts will be taken by Peri Marston. ' COMPLETE DETAILS All details' Jn connection with the sale ot the (4,300.000 issue of county road bonds to the purchasing syndl cate represented by the Bankers Trust company of Denver were com pleted yesterday by the board of su pervisors. The vontrict for the sale of the bonds to bear 6 per cent inter est at a premium of $300,130 was signed by the board on Saturday. According to members of the board, the proposition put to the board by V. F. C.odbe. agent for the purchas ing syndicate, iof changing the bonds iu peari interest or o ;s per cent in-, stoad - of 6 per cent has not been passed on although Mr. Godbe pointed out by so changing the bonds, the county -would be' saved $206,000 in interest. . The bonds were sold last Thursday to the Bankers Trust company' i-f Denver who were the highest of six bidders. . . ' - ! It is expected that the county will receive a check' for the bonds not later - than January 15. 1922. - after which bids for contracts for the con-, struction of the roads to be built with; the money will be advertised for. Lay man are hiking back to health on a trip from Jacksonville. Fla., to San Francisco.- Calif. TWey arrived in Phoenix from Miami ovef the Apache Trail last night and Pitched their camp, the completa outfit for which they carry on their backs, at the auto camp park near Eastlake park. .ihe wo boys started their hiking tour from Jacksonville, Sept. 26 and since that time have walked 2.393 miles, carrying the heavy army pack across swamps, plains, mountains and deserts in all kinds of weather and under continually varying condi tions. But the trip is paying, the boys state. Martin says he has gajned 20 pounds weight as a result and Lay man claims an addition of 15 pounds. They partly pay their expenses by selling cards, and find divertisement in taking snapshots along tho route.
