Wenhuess of the Bream, with shortness of Breath; and spilling of Blood ; Palpitutiuu of tl e Heart; weakness of die Sides aud Stomach ; Dyspepsia ; Cosliveness and Piles ; pain ia the Back, w th Cur vature ; bearing down, with weakness uf the hips and lower extremities; and drooping of the body, especially in young ladies and children. \ I f object is only to aid the suffering in deciding as .±*1- u> a trial uf die Patent I.ure, for the relief of their afflictions. I shall say just enough on some com plaints, to show that the Lace proposes to relieve many apparently opposite affections, in a rational and natu ral manner. The substance of the whole may be summed up in this ; that inan, anirually considered, is a machine, aud that when hiv mechanical perfection is in any degree lost, there must follow a natural and corresponding modification or depreciation of its functions, ana natu rul result. This is true uf die soft as well as of the hard parts. With reference to the organs, or soft parts of uie trunk, we remark, that they are all connec ted together, from the top to the base of the liunral cavity, and are under the influence ofiheir own weight; that, they in health, till support each other, from below' upwards, not dragging each other downwards. This compact and upward uction, is whietiy effected by the surrounding abdominal muscles, when in an active, healthy stale- Of course when diese are relaxed, die whole pile of organs wi.l fall, producing a general con fusion aud displacement of organs, necessarily produ cing a host ol luiu.tn.nal derangements, tn a meohnni ual way. These derangements wilJ he mechanical, and of course only curable by restoring the parts to their pr-per place. The following expresses some of die unturel effects of muscular and ligamentous relaxa tion upon the body which ranuet be cu ed by medi cine exclusively, viz: The whole mass ol organs falls, and presses on the urinary organ, producing a too frequent evacuation of urine; or else, turning it back, nr forward,so as to cramp the stem and retain the urine, produces reten tion, giving too many a false reason to suppose the kid neys to be affected ; they also pi ess on the tower bowel shut it up, und thereby mechanically produce costive in-sa and torpor of the bowels. There will also be exerted a pressure on the uterus (or w«mb), crowding it downward out of place, putting its supporting chorda upon the strotch, producing u sense of pain, wiang ling, aching and lamenessnf die hack, pulling,or draw ing of the groins, where these ligaments are attached, aud n great tense ol weight or pacing at the lower belly, causing the patieut to put his or her hands on that part ou walking. The nerves going to the lower limb*, giving the function of sensation and motion, are compressed by the same means (i. e. a permanent de scent of the abdominal oiguns) producing uuinbncrs, or else too much sensitiveness, as prickling aud wrung Iii g pain, extending down the hips aud thighs; also, loss of, or impeded motion, especially on moving a spell in the morning, increasing to crump, or almost entire loss of motion towards night, all Cone mechani cally, which is better in the morning Also die feet will swell near night, because the pressure obstructs the ascent of the transparent fluids into the body, but will be better in the moruii g. The veins will also be swollen anu relieved in me name manner. By the pressure upon the lower bowel, producing coslivaneas, and obstructing the free return of blood to die heart, piles are produced, which are always re lieved by laxative medicines.
