Councilman Thomas Hughes this morning received a telegram from Al buquerque saying that a rousing meet ing had been held there last evening and strong resolutions adopted protest ing against the withdrawal of the bill to create Sandoval county. Mr. Hughes has other advices from Albuquerque that the city is almost a unit in favor of the new county. He has been tor tne division from the first and says the project is by no means dead. A. San doval and others are here today to in sist on the creation of the new county. The resolution adopted by the Coun cil yesterday afternoon calling the at tention of the Governor to the state ment issued by members of the faculty of the Normal University at Las Vegas and suggesting the resignation of those .... ir,u4 it la another step in-tne troubles of that institution. The attack of the faculty as presented yesterday is aimed at him. The Council resented the fac ulty coming direct to it with any state ment or communication and it was ex pressed on the floor that if the faculty had any statement or communication to make to either branch of the legis lative assembly, it should be done through the board of regents and the governor. A Native of Mexico Fatally Injured by n Train Net Far From Santa Rosa. Jesus Rodriguez of Parras ' de la Fuente, Mexico, who had been working on the Rock Island railroad in Guada lupe county, was struck by a train on Saturday morning near Leonclto and died from his injuries a few hours later. He had his pack on a burro and nvhen in a cut near Leonclto, the animal tried to cross the track lust as the train rounded the curve. In his effort to save the burro, Rodriguez was struck. Several ribs were broken and pierced the lungs. He was taken to' Santa Ro sa by the train that struck him. In an ante-mortem statement he said that he had $100 in his pack, but when the pack was brought to Santa Rosa it was found that the money was gone. KILLED IN KANSAS.
