Fliedner and Carl Metzger, two young men in the employ of the Santa Fe Central Railway Company, had a very nnrrow escape yesterday. While driving past the evaporating plant, the team of horses which they were driving suddenly became scared and quickly turning, breaking the wagon pole, overturned the wagon and threw the occupants to the ground. Metzger escaped with a bruised knee, while it was necessary in Fliedner's case to call in a physician, who made an examina tion and found that he had several ribs broken. At the regular meeting of the board of education held Monday night the following members were present: Pres ident, T. B. Catron; CelestinO Ortiz, Pe dro Roibal, E. S. Andrews. A quorum not being present only minor business was transacted, subject to the approval of the board, as the hearing of re ports and allowing of bills.
