Montoya, Pena Blanca, Sando val County, was in town today on business and on. a visit to' relatives. W. P. Johnson, president of the American Lumber Company, has re turned to Albuquerque from a trip to Los Angeles. Nabor Mirabal, assessor of Valen cia County, who has been on a visit to his brother in Albuquerque, has returned to Los Lunas. J. B. Haywood, manager in charge of the Santa Clara pueblo, spent today in the city on business. He will re turn to duty tomorrow overland. Judge Henry L. Waldo, solicitor of the Santa Fe Railway in Xew Mexico, has arrived in Las Vegas from a visit with his family in Kansas City, -Missouri. Professor W. G. Tight, president of the University of Xew Mexico at Al buquerque, after spending the past few clays here on official business, re turned to his home last evening. A. A. Keen, of Albuquerque, for merly Territorial Land Commissioner, is preparing for a trip to Denver to attend the Public Lands Convention as a delegate from this Territory. Ilev. Thomas Harwood of Albu querque, superintendent of Spanish missions of the Methodist Episcopal Church, was in the city yesterday en route to points on the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad. Dr. G. T. Casper, venterlnary sur- i geon connected with the Bureau of Animal Industry, passed through tbe city today, en route to his station In Chama, from Albuquerque, where he has been on official business. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ilfeld, of Albu- I querque, who have beeu visiting in Germany and in England, during the i past year, have returned to their Duke i CHv home. .Mrs. Ilfeld has been very seriously ill part of the time but is reported improved. W. W. Robertson of Oklahoma City, a representative of a book publishing house in Xew York, who has been in the city on business before tbo Ter ritorial Board of Education, left last night for his home. He was called there by a telegram announcing the sudden death of his father. 'Miss Laura iXaylor, who for the : past four months has been a resident of Santa Fe, left this morning for , her home at Holton, Kansas. She was I accompanied by her sister, Miss Blanche Naylor, of Santa Ana, Call , fornia, who stopped off here for a j shirt visit while en route east. Mrs. John V. Conway will leave to- nigbt on a visit to relatives at Flor ence, Colorado, Arkansas City, Kan sas, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She expects to be gone about three months. She will be accompanied to Florence by her sister-in-law, Miss Mabel Conway. Harry F. Lee, secretary of the Sheep Sanitary Board and of ,tho New Mexico Sheep Growers' Association will be one of the delegates from Mow Mexico to attend the Public Lands Convention in Denver nert Tuesday. Mr. Lee expects to leava for Denver next Sunday. Professor E. J. Vert, president of the Normal University at East Las Vegas, who attended sessions of the Territorial Board of Education here, has returned home. Professor Vert will sever his connection with the Normal University upon the closing of the summer .ormal Institute at that institution in August. H. H. Noel who has been appointed as local manager of the Western Union Telegraph Company, was ex pected to arrive here this afternoon from Castle Rock, Colorado. R. W. Robinson who has been temporarily in cbarge of the office since the resig nation of Mrs. W. H. Warner, will go from here to Denver, Colorado, Mrs. J. A. Although Mr. Salmon thinks the City of Angels is beautiful he says it is not to be com pared with Santa Fe when it comes to climate. John D. Barnes, local agent for the Wells-Fargo Express Company, re turned last night after-an absence of a month, during most of wbich time he visited relatives at Hutchinson, Kansas, where he formerly resided. Mr. Barnes was summoned to that ! city by a telegram informing him that i his uncle was dying there but the lat 1 tor was dead before he reached his destination. During his absence John Bell has been temporary agent. Mr. and Mrs. Harry G. Wilson, of Chicago, who have been in the Ter ritory for the past two weeks, re turned last nlgbt to their eastern home. Mr. Wilson has been connect ed in .a confidential position with the American Book Company for a great many years and is one of its most trusted and successful agents. Dur ing their visit to the Territory they made side trips to Silver City, Las Graces, Albuquerque, Las Vegas and other New Mexico towns and enjoyed their tour greatly. They have many good friends in the towns named. Hon. Solomon Luna, has arrived in Albuquerque from a two months stay at his sheep ranches in southwestern So corro County and on the Gila National Forest. Mr. Luna expresses himself as satisfied with the results of lamb ing and shearing of his sheep, and says that considering all the condi tions, the sheep men in that section of New Mexico have done very well. He expects to remain in Albuquerque un til Saturday or Sunday and then go to Denver to attend the Public Lands Convention In that city whicb meetB there on ,the 18th, as a delegate from the Territory.
