to erect an executive mansion. With
the weeds gone the looks of the prem

augurated and It should be waged un
ceasingly until these are entirely an

A decree of absolute divorce was
granted by Judge Ira A. Abbott, In
the Second judicial district court of
Bernalillo County, at Albuquerque,
yesterday, to Felix Torres, from his
wife, Josephine Lopez de Torres, on
account of abandonment and deser
tion, Forty hour devotion services will
begin tomorrow morning In the chap
el of the Sisters of Ioretto marking
the close of a retreat which has been
in progress since August 5. The re
treat of the local community is be
ing conducted by Reverend Father
Roy, a Jesuit priest.
William E. Kelly is reported as
slowly improving at St. Vincent's Hos
pital. He is suffering from an attack
of mountain fever. Mr. Kelly who

has been granted a temporary per
mit to practice law pending the next
session of the Terriiorial Supreme
Court.
Tomorrow is the feast of the As
sumption of the Blessed Virgin which
is observed as a day of fasting and
obligation by Catholics. Special ser
vices will be held in all of the Cath
olic Churches in honor of the feast
it commemorates. Low mass will be
celebrated at C a. m. and solemn mass
at 9:80 a. m., at the Cathedral.
Encouraged by their fine showing
last Sunday against the Albuquer
que Mcintosh 'Browns, the local base
ball team is practicing daily and is
confident of wrestling victory away
from the Duke City aggregation when
they cross bats again next Sunday.
Several hundred people will probably
go on the excursion from this city to
Albuquerque to witness the game be
tween the two old time rivals.
