Miss Florence Hecker assumed her duties yesterday as assistant book keeper for the New Mexican Printing Company. Funeral services were held yester day over the remains of the late Mrs. Lurla Lambertson, who died Saturday evening at her home on Agua Fria Street. Requiem mass was celebrat ed at the Guadalupe church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. The deceased was a widow and is sur vived by two daughters and one son. j Mrs. Joseph Hersch, who recently , purchased the vacant lot on San Fran i Cisco street, opposite her store has had the ground cleared, and It is un derstood contemplates the erection of a two story modern business block thero in the spring. The new build- lng It is said will contain store rooms on the first floor and the upstairs will jbe fitted out for living apartments. j An anniversary requiem mass will bo celebrated at the Cathedral Satur day, October 5, for the repose of the ! soul of the late Mrs. John Digneo. i This service was to have been held on J September 5, but was postponed ow ing to the absence from the city at that time of members of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to assist in the celebration of the mass next Saturday. Probate Clerk George V. Armijo has issued marriage licenses to the following: Miss Felipita Lucero, aged 36, and Ramon Ortiz, aged 39, both of Santa Fe; Miss Anna Martinez aged 19, and Carmel Carrillo, aged ?,H, both of Lamy; Miss Adelalda Roi bal, aged 40, and Justo Sandoval, both of Glorieta, and Mrs. Dorothy Bischoll aged 54, and Anthony S. Dickinson, aged 46, both of Santa Fe. Letters received this forenoon from San Pedro state it is very likely that the force at work In the camp and employed by the Santa Fe Gold and Copper Company, would be greatly re duced in numbers today and that many men would be laid off. The re port has not yet been fully substan tiated, although It is probable that a reduction will take place on account of the present low price of copper. The street has it that Surveyor Gen eral Morgan 0. The October devotions which are celebrated every year by Catholics throughout The month of October will be observed as usual at the churches of that denomination in Santa Fe. The services which consists of the ex position and benediction of the Bless ed Sacrament, the litany of the Bless ed Virgin and the recitation of the rosary will be held at the Cathedral each evening beginning at 6:30 and at the Guadalupe church at 7 o'clock. The delinquent tax lists for the years 1902. 1903 and 190.', will be pub lished for the last time in Thursday's issue of the New Mexican Review. The list contains the names of the owners of all property upon which the taxes amounting to not less than twenty-flve dollars have become de linquent; the year or years for which the same are due; the amount of such taxes, penalties and costs due; the de scription of the property whereon the same are due, and the amount of tax es, if any, due on personal property by such party. Today marks the beginning of the open season for native or crested quail, wild turkeys, mountain grouse, and prairie chicken, and bright and early this morning there was an exo dus of hunters bound for the quarries of these game birds. Quail in particu lar are said to be very plentiful this season in the vicinity of Santa Fe. The quail open season lasts four months, beginning on October 1 and ending January 31. The open season for wild turkeys, mountain grouse and prairie chickens embraces the months of October, November and December. The open season for deer win not be gin until October 15. HENRY KRICK .
